Something similar happened to me in my work car. It is a little bit older than that, and an Equinox. We've got a small fleet of them, but mine is the only one that has had this issue.
About a year ago, and my wife was having surgery the next morning and I had taken my youngest ones to her mother's to spend the night. And our oldest was out of town. Drove across town just fine, and then I was stopping at a place to grab dinner to take home. Fired it back up in the parking lot, put it in reverse, and when I shifted into drive it died. I cranked it back up and it drove fine to the next intersection, but when I stopped it died again. Did this two more times on my way home, and at that point I made sure I was in the far right lane so I could at least be somewhat out of the way if it didn't start back again. But I did make it home, and ended up driving my daughter's car for a few days until I could get it to be repaired. Something to do with a sensor and the fuel pump, but it sounds like a similar problem to what this recall is for.

GMT800, OBS, all the way back to square bodies, You can pretty much find anything. The problem is that everybody has figured out how good they are and the prices are ridiculous especially old clapped out square bodies
Good luck finding replacement interior panels for OBS trucks when the original plastic parts inevitably break or wear out. Especially in certain colors

GM has been massive piles of crap since 2008. For some reason people still want to believe they are the Zbois of the raise hell praise dale era. They aren’t even American made anymore they are Mexican made hunk of junks but people keep buying them, until people stop buying them will continue being junk.

This happened to me on the interstate heading to Florida. As I got in the left lane to pass the cars my truck lost the ability to accelerate and I had to merge back over and luckily made it to the off ramp. I only had maybe 20k mile on the truck and it was covered under warranty.

Yes on both Chevys
I did it myself for less than $150 each.
It was a hell of a lot easier than I could’ve imagined before I tried.

have a 2000 Silverado extended cab full-size bed
When the fuel pump goes out and you have a full tank of fuel, don't take the tank out. You can remove four bolts on the driver's side of the bed, loosen the four bolts on the passenger side, pop a couple of wire connectors loose to the tail lights, and prop the bed up enough to get to the top of the gas tank to replace the pump. You're creating the world's greatest rat trap.So brace up the bed very securely. I had my son help me.And he was just leaning against the bed, staring at his phone while I stuck my neck underneath there. That was the day I introduced him to profanity

I'm seriously thinking about finding a mid 90's Chevrolet-GMC extended cab 4x4 and restoring it for years of use

I replaced the water pump, fuel pump, knock sensors (intake valleys have foam blocks in either end that hold water and rust them out) and drivers side power window switch. The water pump and knock sensors were the only bitches to replace. The PCMs are solid and the go to for most older resto mods

GM is one of the worst car manufacturers on the planet. Their engineering is awful, their suppliers are awful and their QA/QC is awful.
I looked hard at purchasing a heavy duty truck recently to tow my boat. I love the GMC 2500 look. There is mountains of data on how bad those trucks are and I couldn’t do it.

The first time the fuel pump went out I was working a lot and didn’t have time to fool with it so I took it to the dealer and the motherfrickers charged me $1200. I think this was around 2010.
The next time it went out, I did what you said and it was insanely easy and boy was I pissed.
Four fricking bolts. I did it all by myself. In my driveway.
The cost of the part was almost nothing compared to $1200. I think it was under $100 or maybe it was $120. I don’t remember.
I will never ever take anything to a dealer again. Since then I have developed relationships with three local to me mechanics. One of them has his shop is about 400 yards from my house. I plan to restore all three vehicles as much as i can and do some minor mods and probably have them painted.
I really like my old vehicles.
They have a ton of priceless sentimental value as well.

Better then your headlight going out. Just paid around $2k to get mine replaced on my 22 Yukon. I have an extended warranty but the headlights aren't covered. Was getting moisture inside and it fried it.

My son drove mine when it crapped out and left it in the walmart parking lot
I drove up there, crawled under it and punched the tank with my fist, and it started working long enough to get it home. It's a plastic tank, so you can punch it pretty hard. When I got home, I could not repeat it.It was finally dead for good

PSA... When you unlock your GMC or Chevy, you should hear the fuel pump prime. If you don't hear it, could be a hint of bad module or pump.

Wow. Nice. Don’t know if I would’ve thought of that.
I changed the starter on the Tahoe in the parking lot at work.
That was fun. :/

Yes, I have found parts on eBay Motors as well. But I got that fuel pump at AutoZone for some reason. It must’ve been before I discovered rock auto and eBay Motors and Car Parts.
