PSA…owners of 2021-2023 GM. GMC, Cadillac, Escalades and more, be sure to pay attention to recall and general information notifications from GM, especially Fuel Pump Command Module, It could save your life or the lives of loved ones.
Today, driving my 2022 Chevy Silverado LT, 5.3 v8, only 32,670 miles on it,.I’ve had no issues with the truck starting and running correctly until this evening, I started, drive about 120’, stopped at end of our driveway, accelerated slightly to turn right and truck died, no bells, no warnings, no alarms showing. Tried starting it, it sputtered and coughed about 3 seconds, died again. Attempted to start, tried for a second but only sputtered twice and died again…after that every start attempt, push starter button, starter turned rapidly but wouldn’t start. Truck was dead in the middle of our neighborhood street for 3-4 hours, couldn’t move it, couldn’t use the tricks in the manual nor on Google to force it into neutral just to push it out of the street it was blocking.
YouTube and a Google searches indicate multiple problems and a nationwide recall NHTSA recall N252516900, unexpected FAILURE of the fuel pump power control module. It can happen at any time, at any speed, with no prior indication of a problem. Today mine failed as l slowly pulled out of my driveway, if it had happened 4 minutes later, I would have merging into heavy rush hour traffic, this could have been a deadly situation,
I encourage anyone with 2021-2023 GM, GMC, Cadillac and other vehicles to run their VIN number in the NHTSA search site, and even if your vehicle isn’t listed, it would be worth calling your dealer and ask because some listing is vague and says “certain select vehicles”, turns out mine is one of those and a failed part that GM has known is bad for a long time, is leaving drivers stranded and could easily end up causing injury or death due to inability to navigate traffic due to a dead engine.
Follow up…after watching multiple YouTube videos late into the night, I decided to replace the FPCM, Fuel Pump Control Module. It was easy to access, underneath the truck, just ahead of the rear axle about in line with the right rear passenger seat area, just unplug and plug in new one, only 2 bolts and the wiring harness. The original module was part #13454060, I replaced it with the newer version, part #13554821, got it at O’Reilly’s for $40, saw them online priced from $36 to $300! After installing the truck started up like a new one, runs normally and acceleration is good. I’ll be taking it to the dealer next week for 2 other “service notices”, think they’re trying to tone down the term recall.

Wow. That's not good.
Here's a link to the NHTSA site to check for recalls. I think it's good for everyone to do that periodically and have the recalls fixed for free at the dealership.
Could save life and limb.

Mine did that on the interstate during heavy traffic in Mandeville. Luckily I was a to get to the shoulder. Was very scary, as my kiddo was with me. Also 2022 Silverado

All of this bullshite forced on manufacturers by Democrats has destroyed vehicle reliability.

New trucks are junk. They are built poorly, and are planned to be replaced every few years.
Do yourself a favor and find something from the late 90's and older and drive that.

And where does one find many of the no longer manufactured parts for those vehicles to keep them on the road?

Did the alternator and belts on my fiancee's mother's 2003 GMC Sierra 1500. Took 45 minutes with three socket wrenches, a pry bar, and a 15mm box end for the bigger tensioner.

Did the water pump on my 2000. Had to weld together a bracket to bolt to the alternator to lock down the damn fan to get the bolts lose. Of course the sell a special wrench for $80

My wife's 2022 Cadillac had a fuel pump recall several months ago. She was at the dealership getting it serviced and the tech mentioned the recall and she setup a time and they replaced it the next day. The tech said that GM was trying to avoid a national recall.

GM has been massive piles of crap since 2008. For some reason people still want to believe they are the Zbois of the raise hell praise dale era. They aren’t even American made anymore they are Mexican made hunk of junks but people keep buying them, until people stop buying them will continue being junk.

This issue occurred to our 2022 GMC XLT on Seigan. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and was immobile. This is extremely hazardous, as it leaves you stranded without the ability to shift into neutral to move the vehicle.

Subtle “my cars are only 5 years old” brag

Happened to us on a 2022 GMC Terrain two consecutive years and yes, it doesn't care where you're at when it happens. The second time it was replaced I was losing my patience while at the dealership and they assured me that the new part they were installing was the "fix". Has not happened since (been a couple years) so maybe they got it corrected. Very scary situation when it's your wife and kids/grandkids traveling in that vehicle.

I have found every part I have ever needed at either Car Parts or rock auto or eBay Motors.
There are other others, but I haven’t needed to go anywhere else.
I have a 2000 Silverado extended cab full-size bed. I have a 2001 Tahoe and a 2007 Chrysler.
Those are the last vehicles I will ever own besides a Tesla FSD.
The vehicles are easy to work on and the parts are available.
