tensioner
At least that truck had a tensioner. The 2020 Silverado doesn’t. Had to change a pulley and cut the old belt off. The new belt went on with the “zip tie trick” and my fingers crossed. I don’t know why they wouldn’t put a tensioner on these vehicles.

Had a buddy with a brand new $120k escalade who blew up his engine trying to accelerate into traffic on with his kids in the back.
Car got rearended behind him trying to stop in time.

I thinks thats the problem. The truck is not designed to do that.

Sadly the government made them quit building that truck

A computer on a fuel pump , what could go wrong?

It's a revolving door of recalls partially in response to reach 30 mpg (2030 Biden) and 50 mpg (2050 Barry) and sloppy engineering. I've dealt with 4 folks who owned Buick Lucernes that would inexplicably die and the stealership would not acknowledge that defect, which was due to faulty ECMs.

My 1989 Silverado left me on the side of I-10 three separate times, each time near the Laplace exit. Truck would just die while going 70mph and I had to coast to a stop. Dead as a door nail. After the third time I had to dump it. It was only 9 years old. Some sort of electrical problem nobody could figure out.
So old trucks had problems too.

I love my 2016 Tundra so much I kept it even after buying a new truck. Just couldn’t part with it. Still runs like new.

They have to cut corners because of the mandated crap. But there are a lot of self inflicted crap too. The diesel CP4 pumps for one example.
I'm seriously thinking about finding a mid 90's Chevrolet-GMC extended cab 4x4 and restoring it for years of use. Maybe even an 80's square body if I can find one that isn't priced out of sight.

The sweet spot for a used daily driver is around 2015. Modern engines and features but still not retarded with the electricals and computers.

GM, Chevy, GMC, Ford, Dodge: Seventy bazillion recalls and not fixing the problem or ignoring it completely.
The OT: No big deal.
Toyota: 100k recalls and putting in full engine replacements.
The OT: F'n Toyota sucks they put a 4 banger in the Tacoma!

Had the exact same problem, 2022 Silverado. Got on the throttle kind of hard (after reading what the part does, I'd bet this is usually when it fails) pulling out onto a two lane road with a lot of traffic. Let off as cars slowed a bit up ahead, went back to the throttle... nothing. No warning, no lights, nothing.
Luckily I was still coasting and was passing an easy spot to pull off the road. However, if there was a way to put the truck in neutral, I don't know about it. That's shitty. Towed to the dealership and swapped the part in 30 minutes so that was fine, But, it'd be a real easy way to get in a hell of a bind if it happens in the wrong spot.

Thanks! My spelling is usually better than that! I guess 12:01 am after fighting with a broken down truck that was stuck in the middle of the street for 6 hours must have had my off a little.??
Posted on 7/17/26 at 2:14 pm to 67Tiger
That’s exactly how it did mine, couldn’t even force it into neutral so it could be pushed to the side of the street

Yes and in this case it’s the fuse and control module in one

I agree, that’s why I felt the need to post this to TD because lots of folks read it and the way this happened, I can see it causing injuries and possibly deaths because the failure timing can not be predicted.
