Just googled. Definitely not it.

Funny that's mentioned. Had a friends wife and a friend from high school recently have surgery for them.

They're not "suicide" headaches. My headaches are bad, but they aren't intolerably terrible. They suck and I'm miserable but I'm sure it could be worse.

My dad is like this, can't drink any alcoholic drinks except Miller Lite without getting a bad headache, and with those he can only handle maybe two.

To combat an allergy to alcohol, you can take Pepcid or Zantac. Both are used for allergic reactions without the drowsy side effects of Benadryl.

I get the headaches when I drink and eat due to my "Asian flush disease." Ever since I started taking Pepcid or Zantac beforehand, I don't get red or feel like crap.

you are older now.

maybe "you" changed.

My wife has apparently developed an allergy to alcohol. She feels it the next day.
I stopped buying it for her.

FWIW
I am getting a bottle of organic wine for the holidays.

The enzymes that break down alcohol decrease with age.

Let me guess... you just turned 30

Chug a bunch of water before you go to bed, you'll be fine.

Getting old sucks

How much water are you drinking before these drinks? How old are you? One bud light legit gives you a head ache ?

Anyone else ever have this problem and might have an idea what causes them?

for me, it is sugar that causes headaches...any hint of sugar in the drink (or anything that I eat while drinking) will give me a pounding headache just like what you are saying. in fact, I am so tired of dealing with it, I almost don't even drink while tailgating any more.

I've had this problem for as long as I can recall. I rarely drink anymore and if I do, it's usually no more than a beer or two. Draft beer gives me the strongest reaction. After about 5 minutes my head feels like I've been drinking for days and I have what amounts to a raging hangover before I'm done with the beer.

I was about to post the same theory. Alcohol is broken down in two steps by two different enzymes: alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase.

Alcohol--[alcohol dehydrogenase]-->acetaldehyde--[aldehyde dehydrogenase]-->acetate--[further broken down]-->CO2 and H2O

The issue is that the first by-product of alcohol, acetaldehyde is what cause symptoms of handovers. So if you are lacking or not making enough aldehyde dehydrogenase... acetaldehyde begins to accumulate and you get a headache and feels like crap.

Interestingly, something like 80% of Asians have a deficiency in aldehyde dehydrogenase... actually called Asian flush syndrome

I go through the same thing. Can have one or two beers and then the headache sets in.

I've been told it's dehydration, but I tend to drink a lot of water.

Had that same problem at one time. Discovered that I had an issue with beer that was pasteurized.
