So now they can't take down any monuments without a vote? When will this go into effect?

I'm sure it will sit on JBEs desk for a while cause he is a turd
Although, West Point will likely disown him for doing that. So who knows

Has to go to Senate...then if it passes there to the governor's desk.

There is no difference between City and Parish in NOLA.

West Point already has. I met an Academy Grad who was the first cadet from St Bernard Parish since PGT Beauregard --and now works for the Army Corps of Engineers. Asked him his opinion of JBE and he absolutely went off. Said he was not supposed to flaunt his West Point attendance to get elected and really said that JBE is considered an embarrassment to USMA.
Oh and btw, USMA has a statue of one, Robert E. Lee on its campus.

Just out of curiosity because I don't know enough about the local procedures of the legislature is there a time table on how long it takes to get to the senate floor for a vote?

In the event I was worried about the future of the state of Louisiana it is now confirmed after watching 5 minutes of these idiots blabber on about what special interest group is giving out better free food tonight to them.

My understanding is that next the bill moves to some senate subcommittee chaired by Karen Carter Peterson and stacked with democrats, who will have the power to kill it. Very unfortunate, and sad, if that is indeed the case.

Probably 98% of their day is wasted talking about random bullshite not related to the subject matter

And if it does get out and the gov signs it, someone will challenge the constitutionality of it in the courts. Realistically this likely fails in the senate or they put a poison pill amendment on it that'll completely change the bill and would have to go back to the House.
If it does get out in current form and signed someone will most likely sue over the constitutionality of it.
Best option for the pro monument crowd is the ownership argument in the courts.

Anyway we can take a vote to restore Lee and Davis?

Not sure how that is affected by the bill, at least the constitutionality claims?
I mean if the state legislature can regulate Uber and Lyft, why wouldn't it be able to regulate this? And what jurisdiction would have the will and money to sue the state in court?
Technically the state has a property interest in Jeff Davis & PGT since it donated money to build those monuments.

Not saying the argument will work but you get the if you get the right judge.

Makes more sense....but with the liberal interpretations judges issue today, I'm shocked the preservationists haven't been able to win based that their LA constitutional rights aren't infringed by being able to celebrate their heritage.

Also, legally speaking New Orleans is just a political subdivision of the State of Louisiana. The State has a lot of authority to step in and stop this embarrassing stunt by a lame duck mayor. Call your AG Jeff Landry and make your voice heard. Now is the time.
