I don't think magma was in their homeowner's insurance policy...
All the Louisiana baws can rest easy knowing that I double checked for them and confirmed that volcanic eruption is covered by Louisiana homeowner policies, but it does exclude damage caused by earthquakes, land shock waves or tremors.

They are afraid it will drop below the level of the water table, which would let water rush into the caldera. If that happens, you get super heated water that flashes over to steam and you get a huge explosion (think of a Yellowstone geyser on steroids) that is pushing steam, ash and rocks out of the caldera at amazingly fast speeds and very powerfully.
I thought shield volcanoes didn’t erupt violently as seen in movies. Sure more magma will come up but don’t think they are dealing with some kind of Yellowstone type eruption.

When Krakatoa erupted it caused global average temperatures to drop by 1-2 degrees the year after.

So you're one of those who believe Katrina and Harvey were man's wrath (global warming)?

An explosive eruption may cause part of the Big Island to slough off, causing a megatsunami on the West Coast.

I always thought it was risky to move to a house on an active shield volcano.

I guess there are no virgins left in Hawaii to throw into the volcano and appease the gods.

This is why Hawaii doesn't have depression like the rest of us. They finally know when they're going to die and they're at peace with it.
