Having to put down my beagle

We have a number of dogs, all acquired through fostering and/or surrendered by owners, etc.
Today, we are having to put down our beagle, one we found running around the streets for weeks until we just took her in. This was about 8 years ago.
Not sure how old she was when we got her, but estimated about 6 years old then. So, she made it about 14 years.
Even though she barked louder than every other dog we've had, I'll miss her dearly.

Believe it or not, but it's not as bad for me, because I have been through this so many times before and we have other dogs.
Just that she was one of my favorites and I was the one who found her. (Usually it is my wife who gets them)

We list our first rescue, a Beagle, a few months ago

Feeling for you my man, great dogs and loyal eating companions.
My beagle just turned 14 last month. I know it is going to kill me and my daughter when Beags eventually goes.

The first dog I ever had to put to sleep was my beagle...I adopted her from a guy on this website. She was 12 or so but had bladder cancer. We removed the tumor but it came back and there was no enough bladder left to remove the 2nd tumor.
Beagles are great fricking dogs....bossy as frick though.
Sucks to hear you have to do it.

Our dog is aging, and the inevitable is sneaking up on the family. She is a badass dog, and the kids absolutely love her. Will be a very tough day as that will be our first pet we will be going through that with.
We took her in from our oldest daughter and have had her for 10 years. You can see her slowing down a bit here and there.

Sorry bro. It hurts so bad. I found my great Dane dead on my couch a few days ago and it's gutted me. Hopefully it gets easier as time passes .

It will get better in time. I still think one of the best "how to get over a pet's death" advice is to get or already have another one.
I do feel terrible,more than normal, for Molly, but I am comforted that she was able to live as long as she could under our care. She was mostly spoiled like all of ours.
But, I also realize that so many other dogs are mistreated or simply aren't given the chance to have a life or home.
So, if I do get another one, sort of "in her place" , I'll know I'm saving yet another dog
