I was living in Idaho last month and the wild fires were worse than this by a mile. Some days the sun was blotted out with smoke.

Add the swarm of leftist locusts coming from Cali and Louisiana started looking a lot better.

Not PHX metro. You want to avoid any natural disasters that will potentially frick up your house? Move here.

No earthquakes, no tornadoes, no hurricanes, no wildfires. Monsoon season brings dust storms with some wind…but it won’t do serious damage.

Florida and Tennessee are your best eastern options. Texas to the west.

Please stay put if you’re a Democrat.

And with today’s technology you still get warnings before it happens.

Yeah I don’t see how y’all do that. Flew through Denver a month ago and it was apocalyptic looking.

I left in 2006 after seeing how Katrina was handled, naturally my entire network of family and friends thought it was a mistake. Everyone warned me about the cost of living, bad/cold weather, traffic etc.

For my family, it’s the best move we have ever made. We are now living in Concord, NC and we love it. The weather here is amazing, cost of living is actually cheaper, and I have a better job.

Hear, hear.

Love the food, the family, the friends...but once the latter two are gone, I'm not sure how often I'll visit.

Louisiana is a dying state. If you have the means and the ability to leave, GTFO.

You can always visit but the career prospects quality of life, and the future of the state are shite.

I left in 2012 after grad school and have not looked back. Hell I get shite from my family for not visiting enough.

The state is just depressing and dying a slow death.

Been gone since 1995. All I can say is that there are much better parts of the country to live than New Orleans.

I can’t imagine why anyone who is educated and successful would want to live in Louisiana, unless they’re from there.

Louisiana is poor, dumb, and dirty. No self respecting man lives in that kind of shite if you don’t have to.

Hey, move to the least sustainable city in the world, where we get under 10” of rain annually and morons are still irrigating lawns.

The family & I moved to NC (outside of Raleigh) a year ago from BR. Zero fn regrets! I wish we would have moved sooner, but we did get some good memories in with family. If anyone on this board has the opportunity to move out of LA you should do it ASAP. Find a way if you can.

Moving to Durham soon, so I’m glad to hear this. I know virtually nobody up there, but all of my friends moved on from BR the last couple of years after college. Family will eventually move close by to me in NC as well, but I will definitely miss Louisiana, as shitty as it is. It sucks this state is run by morons and we have to deal with these hurricanes and the damage time after time. It’s truly sad really because you will never find hospitality like you do with the people in Louisiana.

Unless you have a badass job that can’t transfer, you should’ve been long gone from Louisiana.

Same here. It’s really the only thing that keeps me here. If for some reason I lose it or another storm hits LC, I’m leaving Louisiana
