I did it, now live in rural eastern England...longer I’m here the less I want to go back. Been here 15 years.

Not out of the country. But, I wouldn't mind taking a low stress job, like a park ranger, in a Western States national park.

I lived in China for 3 years. At the time it was awesome, but I'm hearing these days they're going to town. They plowed down the Hutongs in the past few months. But if shite completely hits the fan for me, I will go teach English and just get drunk in China for the rest of my life. It just makes sense and I could live there for a while so long as the country is roughly the same as I left it.

I was an expat for about five years to Australia. Some of the best years of my life but the government is full of left-leaning wankers. Opportunities presented themselves back home, hence the return of my family and myself.

If I ever won the mega millions however, I'd piss off right back to Oz. I'd buy a 500 acre vineyard in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. I'd have enough money to not give a toss about the government then, and have people run the vineyard for me. I'd just waste my days away on the front porch.

That's the only thing that would get me back there to live.

Lol no they don’t. I just got back from there recently. At any rate, if you are living there money isn’t an object.

They speak English, super nice people. Cheap to live. Great beaches. Always warm.

I could up and leave no problem. Language barrier and quality if women would be the deciding factors really.

Currently an expat. Probably head back to the US soon but could easily live in Thailand, Australia or NZ and die happy.

I'm seriously looking into Spain.

I live in Madrid, Spain now. Nothing to complain about. Everything is fairly close by, the sun sets late as frick, culture is very relaxed, nightlife is fun, etc. And when you’re “missing home” there are some American expat restaurants and shops to splurge on. The winter weather in Madrid has been warmer (for the most part) than Houston, even.

Have you actually been there? It's one of the top 5 Shitholes I have ever been to. It's overcrowded, dirt poor, the government is corrupt, the drug problem is out of control, and the food sucks. It's one of the few cuisines in the world where you can say that their food is better once you leave the home country.
