This is the answer. We have been 5 times now, and have the area picked out already. Of course 25 years is a lot of time for areas to change but we can dream.
My wife's parents have bought a small coffee farm (very small) in Costa Rica and are spending about half the year there now. They plan on moving full-time in 2 years once they have their lives here buttoned up.

Tallinn us a nice town and Riga, Latvia is even nicer IMO. The problem is they both are frigid for long periods of the year. Just like my favorite city of Amsterdam.... Which is cold and wet for 10 months out of the year. Barcelona or Lisbon or Porto are nice and warm.

The best part of Spain, and Barcelona in particular, is the culture is very "night olwish" which fits me and wife perfectly.

I would love to but most all other nations on this planet have these things called laws and rules and they actually enforce them. They don’t just allow any a-hole to enter in and stay in their country. I know that is confusing and mind blowing to people in america but it’s true.

Yes. I would live in Italy if I could get employed but I don’t speak Italian. London is the easiest destination.

Lisbon is super nice. Weather in the winter is 55-60. I was just there this December. Porto gets colder at night and drops into the 40s.

I'm in Paris about 8 months out of the year. Had to get an apartment and all.
After the "new/different" factor wears off, I can tell you how much I can't stand all the BS in this country, and most of the rest of the world. My biggest gripe is how small and confining everything is, and how LAZY every damn European is. EVEN the damn Germans! I wish I was home now instead of waking up to this BS city. Took me 7 weeks to get internet in my apartment. Took me 5 weeks for a new window. 4 months for a replacement drivers license.
But. I have a gf here, fml.

I have been to Monaco a few times and it is really a nice place. However, a burger and fries with a coke runs about $50 at a very average restaurant. Also, a 1000 sq. ft apartment can cost about $1m. So if you can afford to live in Monaco, you can afford to live anywhere.
