I don’t think there’s a person on earth that hasn’t. It may not be something people look down upon as an addiction but most everyone is addicted to something.

I found a natural herb called kratom that was used to deal with opiate withdrawal. Kratom indeed "helped" but soon realized I was now addicted to this "cure".

Yeah I can tell I’m addicted to it.
Not crippling by any means but I can tell I feel better when I take it if I haven’t had it for a few days.

How’s ole Darren Davis doing these days? He and I had quite a few verbal spats in 2016. Great man that I have a lot of respect for.

I work narcotics for a Sheriff’s Office so I deal with a lot of addicts in different ways. It’s terrible to see what addiction will do to people just brings out the absolute worst.

For every addict who actually has a support system there’s 20 that have nothing or no one to encourage them to seek help. I’ve had 6 people out of probably 500 that I’ve dealt with end up clean and thank me later for actually listening and not judging, had way more than that overdose and pass away.

It definitely helps but I will say be careful. Quitting Kratom was no easy task and the withdrawals were hell

The problem is that along with hitting the mu receptors, it also has other psychotropic properties e.g. antidepressant/mood stabilizer effects, which can make it incredibly difficult to withdraw from. And if someone is on the extracts, your lookin at heroin-like withdrawal.

I do not condone it, but I also don’t judge, and it’s impossible to overdose on it like heroin or fent or opioid pills. DAMN SURE safer than alcohol. This is America should be Land of the Free imo. I do know people whom it has positively impacted and kept them out of pain clinics or even worse the streets.

Yeah it is definitely a much safer alternative. It really was a miracle "drug" helping get off the real opiates. I enjoyed the effects and felt really good while using. The only reason I quit was it becoming illegal in Alabama. This state is a joke making that herb a schedule 1 substance but I am glad I no longer "need" it

Oh and I was addicted to cigarettes. Used the name brand 21mg Nicoderm CQ patches(generic sucks you’re wasting your money) and cut it into progressively smaller pieces as I slowly tapered down over a year.(not recommending this) Worked like a charm. Don’t think about them anymore.

As a nurse, I’ve seen up-close and in 3d the terror and heartbreak smoking causes patients and their families

prescription pain killers

This is one I could definitely see myself falling into, if they were readily available to me. Got some after a surgery a few years back. Didn't really need them for recovery, so I just popped one on Friday nights to relax until they ran out.

I deal with it every single day. In and out of treatment in my late teens and early 20’s for what started as pain pills, Xanax and cocaine. Turned into heroin, Xanax, and cocaine. Got sober, finished school, and got credentials to be a substance abuse counselor.
I see this stuff tear families apart and bring grown men to their knees every single day.

I'm not sure if this really classifies, but I've chewed my finger nails my entire life. I have not clipped my finger nails one time in my life. I have lasted 6 days without chewing them and always come back to it. I don't realize I'm chewing them sometimes, it's a habit of boredom or anxiety. Long road trips will have me chewing my nails the entire time.

Almost everything you like becomes somewhat of an addiction...
phone, tigerdroppings, LSU sports, coffee, caffeine, alcohol, hunting, fishing, Etc.

Learning how to moderate is the key.
