A couple of weeks ago I was pretty drunk after LSU lost to Auburn. It was probably around 1:00AM when I decided to cook the 16oz Strip I had in the fridge. I seasoned the steak with salt and pepper, put some butter on the cast iron and turned it on high. After a few minutes I threw the steak on and set the timer for 4 minutes. (per side). I then sat down on the couch and passed out.....

......I woke up later to sun light beaming through my windows. It was 7:30AM. I stumbled into the kitchen to see a black chunk of charcoal in the skillet. Luckily, the chimney above my stove kept the smoke at bay, but the smell of burnt meat permeated the place for a couple days.

All in all, I was pretty lucky. Anybody have similiar experiences?

I think this thread should just be about passing out while drunk, as you could have been doing any activity beforehand and you would be lights out as soon as you hit the couch.

Passed out while cooking? No.
Passed out after cooking? Yes.

Heavy night of drinking during my semester studying abroad. 10 minutes before my morning class (History of Modern/Post WWI Austria) I woke up to a cold grilled cheese sandwich next to my head. Ate the sandwich on the way to the classroom, finished the scheduled test before anyone else, left the room and went straight back to my homestay to sleep. Later that day one of my friends informed me he could smell the alcohol from clear across the (small) room.

I earned an A on that test. I learned nothing from my mistakes.

Does a frozen pizza in the oven count or ordering dominos and then passing out count? If so then yes. Unfortunately yes, as many on here can attest to or they are lying.

Decided to fry chicken in my apartment when I was like 19. Very drunk already. Filled up the pot with oil and turned the burner on.

Got very high waiting for it to get hot. Passed out and woke up however long later to the fire alarms going off and the apartment filled with smoke. Went to the kitchen and flames were going up the cabinet and spreading out on the ceiling. Grabbed the pan (still very high and drunk) and dumped the oil in the sink.

The plastic handle of the pan melted around my hand and burned the shite out of me, but I was now holding a flaming pan with plastic melting around my fingers over a sink that was also on fire. Had my baw open the front door and I chucked the pan into the parking lot and started throwing what I thought was flour into the sink. Turns out it was sugar and also started to catch on fire.

At that point, I just said frick it, and watched the fire burn out in the sink for a couple of minutes. Was a big scene at the complex and the FD came after someone called them about the alarms and pan on fire in the parking lot.

After everything calmed down, we smoked another bowl and went to sleep with all of the doors and windows open. The funny thing about that story is that I never had chicken to fry in the first place. I didn't have anything fry-able in the whole house

When I lived in Tulsa I worked with a guy with a drinking problem.

One night after drinking he went home and decided to make some mac and cheese about 2am. Said he woke up about 6am in the dew covered grass where the fireman dropped him. He got billed for a new door, door frame, smoke damage, and some other odds and ends, over $1500. The water had boiled off and the macaroni had burned up when he passed out. Said those Tulsa Fire dudes get pretty pissy about nearly burning down apartment buildings when drunk.

Same guy very hastily moved to Dallas after he committed a double hit and run a couple months later. 1st was the bar parking lot a parked car, the 2nd was another car parked along the residential street he cut through to avoid being spotted with fresh damage on a main thoroughfare.

I never did, but my friend was going to fry something and had the pot and oil on the stove. I was taking a nap in my room while this is going down. Apparently, he leaves to go to a restaurant and drink, and forgets about frying the food, even though he left it on. I wake up to the sound of something 'popping', then I see some smoke coming in my room. No fire alarms ever went off

The whole house is smoked out and I go to the kitchen where the fire is golfing everwhere. The stove was golfing, the cabinets were golfing, everything was golfing with fire. Luckily after I went outside for some air, I grabbed a towel and drenched it with water and then threw it over the stove where the fire was golfing everything.

The whole f'd up part is the insurance company wanted to say that we never did have a fire and was going to file insurance fraud. I guess if you fix your shite too fast they may not believe it.

Yep, potatoes. Passed out fully clothed whilst boiling potatoes. Woke up to a roommate screaming at me that the house was on fire, it wasn't. Just smoke filled. 3 little black nuggets were bouncing around in the pot like marbles.

One time when I got home hammered; I was naturally trying to whiskey rampage some food. Well all I had in my refrigerator was a can of biscuits so I decided that's what's for fourth meal. Well I put them in the oven then proceed to pass out on the couch. Now this is a one bedroom, dang near an efficiency apartment; I wake up hours later sweating cuz it's so hot in there. Ran to the oven and shut it off and those biscuits looked like little hot red glowing coals. Just glad I didn't burn the apartments down (speaking of burning down, I subsequently lived in Cobblestone; RIP).

A fun conclusion to the above story; at that time my brother still worked in Tigerland so I brought him the biscuits to show him and tell him the story and he decided to keep them and let anyone who wanted to eat one in for free cover, of which some people took him up on the offer.
