I lived about 50 yards behind that Circle K in 96-97. It wasn't even a complex, just a few apartments owned by a slumlord. It's probably not there anymore. Should have been condemned before the mid 90s
I think it was $300/mo

Hell, for $230 a month I should have kept it after graduating just for football season.
They remodeled the place about 3 years ago. I think the rent is about 4 times that amount now.

Most college students live like kings in comparison these days. Only rich kids had half decent apartments when I was at Lsu. Tiger Plaza or Sharlo were high cotton

University House was the Cadillac of off-campus housing.
I lived and worked there.
I smashed my 30 something yr old boss as a 17 yr old freshman.
It was Brightsude Crossing then.

A friend owned a house he inherited. He didn't do any type of up keep. Never painted it... no hot water... no heat... Yard was completely over grown. He went to New York and asked me if I wanted to live there rent free. I was in my early twenties and jumped at it.
I put in hot water and added a big arse space heater... cleaned up the little yard. The toilet was leaning a bit and girls were afraid to sit on it. One time I was showering and I noticed a black speck on the interior wall of the shower... I picked at it and the whole wall collapse on me in the shower... A friend was outside and shook the window unit and whole wall did a wave. I freaked out thinking the house was going to collapse.
The place was a club house for my friends. Smoked a ton of pot and grilled almost everyday. The neighbor asked if I had my gas turned off.
Some people offered to buy and he said no... They ended up going to the city to check on his property tax payments and he was in arrears. So he was forced to sell or pay the city a huge amount of delinquent taxes. They tore the house down and built a huge town house on a very small piece of property...
Those were the best years of my life that I spent in that shite hole...

Tiger Plaza. Plantation trace. Still not the shittiest place I lived. Caught a possum in the house. Buddy stomped a mouse trying to jump out of its way. Had to flea bomb the room once. It would rain in the shower in the winter because no heat.

You know where Port Arthur, TX is? I lived in a $130 / person ($390 total / month 3 BR 2 BA) apartment in the worst part of town for 6 months.

What was that pentagon shaped shack off of highland near canes? It was across from a lot of apartments and was the only house on that side.

I had a hot streak between 2010 and 2016.
Between fall 2010 and spring 2014 I lived in a 2BR and then a 4BR at University Heights/Tiger Lodge in Auburn. This was the place where football players were murdered on two different occasions. It wasn't so bad when me and my buddies first moved in but all the nice people left after the first year or two and all the hoodlums moved in. We couldn't get a pizza delivered there after a while which was a big red flag in hindsight. There was plenty of goofy stuff that happened there though. We had a guy with a super loud bass who would drive his arse through the complex at ungodly hours a few nights every week. We called him Mr Awesome. The nets at the basketball court disappeared after the final four every year. A week before my lease was up we nearly had a gang fight in my building. Cops came for that one. Checked the place out again last summer and it's chinatown now. I guess they stopped renting to section 8. Rent was $400/month.
After that I lived in a 1BR for six months, was only like 480 square feet, everything was paper thin, the internet never worked, and we all shared the same ducts and AC. Girl living on one side had to be Indian because everything smelled like curry three nights a week. Guy on the other side loved hot dogs and pumping iron. Girl under me had an incredible sex drive and she was easily 9/10. Too bad I was already dating my wife. Rent was like $370/month.
Then I graduated and moved to Atlanta for work. Found a gated complex literally across the street from the office. Apartment was nice, management was a bunch of crooks. Tires got stolen off my car in the first three months. To this day I am 100% sure the "security" was in on it. Should have retained a lawyer and seen what he could turn up but I was young and trying to save as much money as I could. Plus I hated the job and had little time or energy for anything else. Had to gut it out for another ten months but at least I knew I didn't want to live in Atlanta after that.

Moved to Texas at 17 in 1999. $250 a month got us a 2 bedroom house with no heat or air. Window units worked well. Every mining you could see the silver snail trails across the floor/ the bed sheets

I lived in those crappy downtown apts across from the governors Mansion near the interstate almost 15 years ago.
Carried a gun at night to bring out the trash.
Got stuck in the elevator and the guy oj the emergency lines response was "Ayye, chill. It'll work eventually." No joke.

Lived on the 7th floor of Kirby for 3 years then moved to Tiger Plaza with my friends my last two years (5 year plan). We were right behind The Tiger/Stadium Club/Tiger Bar. This was 93 to 95. Place got flea infested several times but being right there probably saved me from killing myself or someone else because we hit the bars hard. Six months after graduation I got a job in BR and moved in with a buddy in the apartments across the street from El Cid. That place wasn’t bad bud was small and loud as frick. Once I saved up a little money I brought my fiancé down and we moved into Place DePlantier off of Lee. We thought we were shitting in high Cotten but looking back it was just a shithole with tennis courts.
