I've never known a murder victim, but I knew a murderer. I had some classes during my freshman year of high school with Chris Prudhomme, the satanist who murdered the Ellender family in Sulphur.
In high school, Chris always struck me as a wayward kid (he was raised by his elderly grandmother) who was dressing like a goth and spewing satanist shite to get attention. He was weird as hell, and I stayed far away from Chris and his ilk.
Still, I never dreamed he'd murder an entire family of innocent people. It's truly sickening that he had no regard for human life whatsoever--not even his own. He killed himself in jail, saving the taxpayers the expense of a capital murder trial. I think he was a true sociopath.

I had an auditing class with Charlotte Murray Pace, one of Derrick Todd Lee's victims. I didn't know her well, but she seemed like a really nice person.

My cousin. She was raped and murdered in 1983. I always wanted to know more about it but don't know how to bring it up. Obviously the family worked hard to put it behind them, but it's tough not knowing what happened. She was my godmother. I always wanted to do more research on it, but I'm scared of what I'd find.

A friend of mine years ago was murdered by his wife. She's in jail.

Guy and girl I was deployed with, started dating when we got back stateside. She went and did some photo shoot one night he got jealous and strangled her to death.
Tried to cover it up by making it look like they were in the car she was driving and they crashed.
Still had videos and pictures of them when we heard about it. Weird
Guess they did a 48 hours episode on it too called Collision Course

In the 1960s distant cousin of mine got a call from his wife at work. His wife was a mess on the phone but managed to get out that their young daughter had told her the neighbor had molested her. Danny (the dad) left work and went straight to the neighbors house. By all accounts I've ever heard he rng the doorbell and when the man answered Danny stabbed him.
The neighbor died and Danny went to prison. In the subsequent investigation it was learned that it was not the man that had done it But it was the neighbors wife.

I don't know anyone who's ever been murderered.
But, a former coworker's mother was found beheaded on the side of the road. My coworker was like 11 months old at the time and was raised by her grandmother. I don't think the murderer was ever caught.

Good friend from high school was killed 2 blocks from the US Capitol (went to get a snack at 7-11). He was an aid for Sen. Shelby. It was 1992. He was 25.
Another friend from high school was a traffic cop for Tuscaloosa PD. Killed his wife and himself in her lawyers office parking lot after meeting about getting a divorce. In uniform and used his city issued weapon. Happened in 1993. He was 26.
Carrie Lawson from Jasper. Her husband was a fraternity brother of mine. They still have not found her body. My roommate from college is now in the FBI and they still get tips. Just last year they went sent a team with some ground radar thing to check a suspected site of a grave. But it was not her... Happened in 1991.

Morris black was my next door neighbor in Galveston, murdered and chopped up in to little pieces and thrown off the sea wall. I was in 7th grade, but I remember he used to yell at his girlfriend or whoever until crazy hours in the night. Also threw dog food at him a few times from the balcony.

I knew a girl that was murdered by her father. He killed the mom and little sister too.

The 12-year-old daughter of my first cousin was abducted and murdered after getting off the school bus and walking down the dirt road to their house. The case got national attention, but has never been solved.
