It is easy to figure out who I am also by my nickname and the random true stuff I post. So many people have outed me and most are great. Everyone I have met irl has been normal amd many are good friends now. It is the weirdos who lie and say they don't backchannel or have social media, continually post your identifying information and adamantly say they would never meet anyone irl, and freak out if you remind them they have also said identifiers about themselves that worry me. What is the point of telling someone you know who they are if you lie about how you found out and you don't want them to know who you are?

There are many way creepier than you

Yup, somebody started a post about having a cheating wife and another poster chimed in with details about their experience that 100% told me who they were because it was a couple from my overall social circle. I allowed him to indulge in his version of the story while knowing some contrary details. Decent guy and he had suffered enough.

There is a poster I know I went to school with that post on tiger rant. You have to be a real a-hole to name somebody on a message board.

I know the identities of quite a few posters due to mutual friends or mutual hobbies. I would never do anything nefarious with that info so I don’t think it’s a big deal. I’m sure some people probably know who I am, but that also doesn’t really bother me either.

I would not be against meeting people from here, except for the members of the huge backchannel crew. They would all know within 4 minutes who I was, and not all of them are nice people.
