In your experience dealing with meth addicts, have you known any to die young? Or do they usually last forever? It just amazes me how some of these addicts survive, some look like they could be on the show walking dead.

I know you didn't ask me but most don't just die in their 30s, its not a drug that people really OD on like heroin. Usually they get arrested and locked up before they kill themselves.

yep, its truly incredible, especially when you consider what they use to make the meth. What did your friend die from?

I remember when Louisiana finally came up with a standard required statewide property disclosure form for real estate transactions about 10 years ago. One of the questions I was a bit surprised to see on there is whether or not meth was ever cooked in the house. It's such a hazardous process that the chemicals can remain in the sheetrock and insulation for years.

yeah, that's what I've read as well. It just does so much damage to someones organs that it's surprising that most don't just die young.

I was reading an article about some guy out in AZ, he was high on meth and climbed up his roof and was eventually killed by the cops. Crazy story. Is meth pretty bad in AZ?

no, we're always on the look out for that. I honestly don't think he's capable of cooking it, his brain is pretty shot.

Yes unfortunately I had this situation with my ex wife. So many people who have the same situation have almost identical tales of destruction and personal upheaval in their lives...like a tornado that hits and leaves a trail of devastation in its wake. In my ex wife's case, tragically after choosing to live homeless and refusing offers of help, her life came to an end in the issues wrapped up in the substance abuse. She leaves behind many who did all they could for her plus my daughter who is still trying to understand things at a young age. I wish you all the best in your situation and hope you all find strength in pressing forward.

When you're writing/broadcasting content, just please, please, please use "centered on" instead of "centered around."

I was actually thinking today about giving up drinking. Probably 95% of the time I'm good and can either not drink, or just have a couple of drinks. I don't ever drink during the week, and have gone weeks without drinking. Don't do it in front of my family, and don't drink at dinner, etc. The other 5% of the time, I'm wide fricking open. Went to a buddy's house Friday night and ended up drinking a 6 pack and most of a handle by myself. He ended up kicking me out at 5am because I was getting rowdy, and I had to drive all of the way back to New Orleans drunk as frick (I planned on sleeping there). Not a situation I want to be in because I've been in jail enough times for that, and I'd be devastated if I hurt someone.

If I don't get drunk or just have a slight buzz, I'm good. As soon as I get drunk, the drinks start getting stronger and going down faster, and usually the SHTF. I just have no self control when I start getting drunk, so I think I'll quit for a couple of months and see what happens. I guess realizing that I could've hurt innocent people is my bottom. Don't want to put myself in the position where I decide other people's fate

I can do it. I've done it before, but just went back to partying for one reason or another.

My ex's mom was addicted to meth, and some of the things that happened to her as a child are so upsetting. Nobody should be subjected to what she went through, and it sounds like you guys are making your way towards that.

Might be a dick move, but I'd plant something on him or make up a lie to get him arrested. That's the only way all of you will be safe. The distance would be good also

In addition to
Option #1: Don't "get rowdy" and thrown out of the place you were planning on sleeping, and
Option #2: Drive back to N.O. (From where?!?) after consuming a six pack and most of a handle, there is
Option #3: lay your drunk arse down on the seat of your F-250 and take a 8 hr nap/pass out.

Yes. My mother. It's horrific and can/will destroy your family. You cannot change nor control his actions. Do what you can, learn serenity prayer, do not allow his addiction to dominate your world, which it probably does. If you can-get him arrested. Seems harsh but it needs to happen.

Help yourself and parents-get into Al Anon. Some great addiction therapists in BR, if that's where you live. Happy to help you if you need it. I've lived the hell of addiction my entire life.

No shite, who drives after drinking all of that. Especially when they have already been to jail for it?

BR --> Metairie

I'm not saying it was a good decision. I know it was wrong. In fact, I tried to explain it was a horrible decision and I don't want to do it ever again. Not driving home didn't even cross my mind at that point. I was too drunk and angry. I owned up to what I did, and I will correct it so it doesn't happen again. That is my plan, and I'm not hiding from what I did so I can pretend like it never happened.
