How the hell is she qualified? She went to nurse school, not med school

I would just really rather not have to pay $75 for Urgentcare. $25 copay I'd do, but $75 seems a bit much for this.

If you haven't had symptoms for very long, keep taking OTC stuff. Get a neti pot. If you have had symptoms for awhile, then go see about getting some antibiotics.

Unless you feel like you need to go, then just go.

Mucinex DM and a lot of water. You'll start feeling better in a few days.

This plus alkaseltezer cold/flu a couple times a day. I usually go to the doctor if my symptoms get worse or dont improve after 4-5 days. Colds and flu can last longer but you should should not feel god awful past that point with going to the doctor.

It's a $50 copay with my insurance to go to urgent care. Better than the $250 copay for an ER visit. So $50-75 for the convenience of being seen sooner than your primary is pretty standard.

Make an appt with your primary Doctor then if you don't want to pay $75. Or pay the $75 and be seen today.

Does your insurance offer online md services? Ours does.....for minor illnesses you speak to a doctor online (via webcam) and they can sometimes call in prescriptions for you. It's only like $35. One of my coworkers has used it a couple times for minor illnesses.

I don't think so. I've never heard anyone mention that before.

Let me ask you this, what OTC medicine would you recommend, Nurse? The cough and chest phlegm are minor nuisances at the moment. My biggest complaint is nasal blockage and sinus pressure. I'm thinking about just sucking it up and taking some OTC stuff. It's a complete pain in the arse for me to leave work for doctor's appointments anyway.

Most providers won't give antibiotics for sinuses unless it's 7-10 days because it's most likely viral. Doc in a box play by different rules though because they want your money.

Sinus infections don't need antibiotics, just need to flush the sinuses. Get some afrin, aleve sinus-d, and a Neti pot.

Afrin opened me up very well, but you can only take it for a few days

You will be able to breathe and relieve some pressure though

I seldom ever go to the doctor and have never gone for a cold, but I am in a bad way right now. Headache, cough, green/yellow phlegm, can't breathe out my nose, and an off and on again throbbing in my ear. I've been told it might be a sinus infection by someone not qualified to make a diagnosis.

I am utterly miserable. I have bad allergies but this is definitely something else. Definitely not going to pay $75 for urgent care for this, but is it worthy of a doctor's visit or will OTC medication suffice? I can't imagine trying to sleep tonight with this again. I tried some Suphedrine decongestant last night as it was all I had other than allergy medicine and it was completely useless

Get Mucinex D (behind the counter) but make sure it is Maximum Strength. This crap was life changing when I had your symptoms for the 2nd time this year.

$75 too much?? What would a plumber charge? People here spend more than that on a pair of chrome truck nuts.

Urgent Care will charge him $85-$120 to literally go buy Mucinex OTC. Cortisone shot may be worth it though. $20 for that on top of that fee.

To evaluate my symptoms? No idea.

Bruh, I'm not a baw. I'm a frugally minded fellow.

The Aleve Sinus-D or Mucinex D sound like the ticket. Going to pick some up around lunch and try not to OD on them.

Started to get the same thing two days ago.

Got some Cold-Eeze drops, and some Alka-Seltzer Plus for my symptons yesterday, and drank a bottle of V8. I feel so much better today.

it might be a sinus infection

I got diagnosed with a sinus infection last week. My doctor put me on antibiotics. Amazing the difference in only a few days. Call your doctor. They might want you to come in.
