No donkeys, but I'm pretty sure we were served camel in Morocco. I would imagine it would be similar to horsemeat.

There was some book I remember reading as a kid about war. Maybe civil war? They fed the soldiers dead horses and they knew because the fat was yellow but pretended to not know.

Horse is great, would totally eat it again. Had it in Munich a couple of years ago most recently.

It's a delicacy in Italy. Friends there say horse meat is similar to moose and donkey is like pronghorn. Pronghorn is some of the best meat you can get, super tender and flavorful as long as it hasn't been eating sagebrush.

I had some in Mexico. Do not, however, joke that this was what became of the veterans of the Tijuana show survivors.

Mexicans are apparently touchy about that for some reason.
