Total smokeshow/hottie now, but then you see the parent, project how they will look in 20-30 years, and decide to hit the eject button?

Is it a bit shallow or just reasonable forecasting?

It's reasonable to hit the eject button for whatever reason you so choose to. This is america... or at least it used to be.

Can't make a decision without seeing the "Total smokeshow/hottie"

That projection is usually not accurate. Too many variables to predict.

I dated a half Korean, half Italian girl in college. Mom looked like all the Asian lady memes.

Ya can’t always go by that rule.

This isn't just about looks

Seeing the parent as a narcissist or overbearing or some form of addict is also in play.

Was she super hairy, no hair at all, or a combination of both?

I thought about it, more because the mom had issues and the whole family fought like cats and dogs even the first time they had me over for dinner. As in laws, they can still be a challenge; but after 27 years of marriage I am glad I did not throw it all away.

Maybe not

If there were a bunch of family issues / drama / addictions I’m not sure I would want to be part of that

Family drama played a significant part in my bailing on my ex

Kind of. I sat near this gorgeous girl in a class in college, and I asked her out several times. She always turned me down, so later I imagined that her mother was really ugly so I quit asking her out.

biggest issue is if other person can't separate from their family and the associated drama. Lots of people disassociate from family. Some for good reasons and others for WTF reasons.
