My center channel of my surround sound is refurbished. Bought is directly from Polk's ebay site. Looks and performs like it's brand new.

If it's manufacturer refurbished and from an authorized reseller, yes. I almost exclusively buy my electronics refurbished.

The one bad instance I had was buying a refurbished Garmin GPS on Groupon Goods. They're very likely not an authorized reseller, so it was stupid on my part. It works. But it's got a loose charging port that takes some finess to get the plug to work. It also said it came with Lifetime Traffic and Updates. Every other reseller that sold it sold it with the traffic receiver. Somewhat unsurprisingly, these guys sold it the cheapest because they didn't include that, just a basic charger.

Other than that, manufacturer refurbs typically come with more stringent testing than new products, a similar "no lemon" warranty, and at a cheaper price.

ETA- the only time I will not buy Manufacturer Refurb'd stuff is if there's not a significant difference in price.

The majority of my Rigid power tools are manufacturer refurb. I put then through hell and still work great. Saved a lot of money too.

I've bought two refurb iPod classics, no problems with either. Refurb Apple products are a good buy.

buy refurbs all the time. never any trouble. they are tested, and cleaned up to new condition by companies. essentially the same product and reliability at a lower cost.

I bought a refurbished iPod nano YEARS ago because I didn't want to ruin anything nice while riding. That sob gets treated like crap and still works today.

I think I got it on overstock.com.
