First thing I thought of are the Peloton bike commercials right now. They're doing a good job.

Folgers does a good job too. I always want coffee after seeing one.

Everyone has, that's why they keep doing them...they work.

This is a good example. I'm not swayed by the commercials themselves. I probably would never think about it.

But someone is, because a ton of my professional friends are buying them, which makes me want to buy one. The same is true with Apple products and other well-made stuff.

What I don't really understand are the people who swayed by Charmin or Tide or whatever. Advertising just never factors in to my thought process on purchases like that.

Exactly. People like to act like ads don't work, yet these companies are pouring millions into it.
You may not get up and go buy the product immediately, but you bet your arse when you're in the market for what they were advertising and sitting in front of an aisle with similar products you will lean towards the one you saw in the ad.
