I am offended by that. I am female and do not bitch. But I am married to a man that bitches constantly because the world does not function the way he thinks it should.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

So far I have nailed the be fruitful and multiple and every free weekend I am working hard to have dominion over fish will probably get the rest when I retire.

Map making/surveying. Really enjoy it. Have always made makeshift maps as a kid and now I get paid to wander around (mostly) nature and take note of everything. Most of the job environments are in the backwoods of nature and very relaxing even when were on as-builts (as they are constructing the lines). Came up pretty quick in this little niche too so I feel like it was something I was meant to do

This question is close to my heart. When my son was a teen I worried about something happening to him because I thought he was my purpose and I’d be useless if he were gone. God gave me peace by making me see that every life serves a purpose.
We do not get the privilege of knowing what our or anyone else’s purpose was on earth, it is all part of a grand plan. When a person leaves we should rejoice in knowing that, for better or worse, that life impacted someone else and now they can go on to the next place.
I wish I could enjoy knowing the purpose of my own life but I do not at this time. I do know that when it’s over it will have been purposeful

It may take many years before discovering my "why" for choosing to open this thread.

Lol.

Tell that to the people on countless threads here in the past who have stated (unironically) that one of their main reasons for having kids is so that they’ll have someone to take care of them when they get old... Talk about selfish...

I’m not a religious guy fwiw.. i think most of us just wind up here on this big blue marble through a series of occurrences.. i think our collective ‘purpose’ is to try to enjoy life, spread love where we can, and not frick the place up too bad.

Be the example you want to set.

Cherish life, no matter what it throws at you. Be good. Be real. Be loyal. Be honest. Be reliable. Be joyful. Be generous. Be humble. Embrace sadness when it comes.

Initially I thought God would lead me to a purpose, but now I'm pretty sure your purpose in life is whatever you make.

Very small percentage do. And even smaller percentage realize they’re getting fricked. People are fricking idiots

I agree. Society is in decline, IMO, because responsible folks aren't reproducing.

Amen.

My “why” in life is to compose and perform music.

Which I do two to three times a month when I get a little free time from my career and family.

No, I'm not sure I have one. This has begun to bother me a bit lately. I'm ok with not having kids and actually kind of prefer it that way. But I do wonder what the purpose of it all is.

I read a book on suicide and one of the most dangerous times for people with suicidal tendencies are when the pass the 'reproduction stage'. Some think it's evolutional and that the animalistic side of us starts to think that we're a burden on our clan or family so it's better at this point that we die off instead of waste vital resources (back in the day). At this point, we're consumers and not really adding to the future success of our immediate family or tribe or village. I don't know, I found that kind of interesting.

Absolutely

To exist.

Life is nothing but a collection of experiences and how you internalize them, and connect to others.
