I don't understand how they could convict the guy. At no time did anyone say he was held down and forcibly fed alcohol.
That is why he isn't charged with 2nd-degree murder or manslaughter.
The criminal negligence definition may help some try to digest this case: Criminal negligence exists when, although neither specific nor general criminal intent is present, there is such disregard of the interest of others that the offender's conduct amounts to a gross deviation below the standard of care expected to be maintained by a reasonably careful man under like circumstances.

Honestly, being on the jury for this would blow.
well since the Advocate has reported on the front page every time Naquin farts, we all should be experts now.
Anytime we had a pledge that we didn't like, we just quit telling them when/where the parties were, quit inviting them places. They got the hint. I sure as shite wasn't going to spend money buying them booze.

No shite. That's why I told him to stop there instead of telling him that he should remove his post. I've been around long enough to know that the questions will start coming fast and furious. In fact, only took three posts after yours.

The Advocate article says the defense called 2 witnesses
Got it. The linked tweet makes it appear that the defense didn't call any witnesses.

Guilty.
Why only a 6-person jury? I'm not familiar with La Criminal Court system...

the Gruver kid sounds like an immense dickhead tbh. hammered drunk 23 out of his first 28 days on campus and dumb enough to drink enough everclear to be 6x the legal limit.

are you fricking kidding me?
What's the precedent or did they just set one?
Posted on 7/17/19 at 12:11 pm to tgrbaitn08
plenty of case law going back 30 years for precedent on cases exactly like this one.

Is there a way to search these? Or do I have to be a lawyer for that?
