From a business standpoint, have "best practices" always been such a thing?? It seems like there's so much pressure & scrutiny these days to use "best practices." There's little room for creativity

Might be on to something here. Business shareholders hold all the cards, not costumers. Businesses have to focus on maximizing profits, not qualty.
This has been a steady progression over time, not abrupt.

That being said, there are nice things out there, with very skilled artists and tradesmen, but they are hard to find and most people can't afford.

It's the end stage of capitalism. The drive for success and profitability is more important than the welfare of the individual or society at large. Food dyes and chemicals are a great example. The physical health of society at large be damned, colorful and ultra processed food just sells better.

I'm not proposing that there is a better economic system out there, but loosely restrained capitalism like we have in America and human nature are not compatible with each other over a length of time, and we're starting to see the end of the rope way off in the distance today.

Germany did it right. But they have a higher quality population that doesn’t drain the budget with welfare and broken families.

peaked in the mid 80s. The internet, 24 hour new cycle, cell phones and social media will be listed on the death certificate as, "cause of death."

Felt like peak was 80s & 90s with the death of it being 9/11.

I don’t think you can say the era where the destruction of the family really started to take place was a peak as far as Western civilization. Divorce and feminism really started to do serious damage in the 1980s and 1990s.

Divorce rates peaked in the early 80s. Feminism's peak was around the 60s and 70s, ignoring anything really recent.

The 70s no bra period was great.

However, I think if the Republicans win the next presidential election the peak will be in the early 2030s. Then the pendelum will swing and the satanists will take over for a dramatic drop around 2034. Then downward spiral from there.

Oct 6,1999 was the peak. The night I snuck into tiger stadium and dumped a load into my gf at mid field.

Early to mid 2000's was still a solid time.

Society declined when rock music was relegated to the shadows in favor of rap/pop

We peaked in a period from setting foot on the moon, to around 1980.
