thats not even right if all we are trying to get is a single 2048 tile. there will be some 2s and 4s on the board also.
im talking about the people coming in talking of their uber awesome high scores of 2057 or 5079 etc.
The game ends when you make a 2048 tile.

well to get to a 2048 tile you have to have a pretty high score. so it seems like that is a decent way to judge how close you actually got.

It also counts your score

ONCE AGAIN SCORE DOESN'T MATTER.
That's funny. I wonder why they count your high score if it doesn't matter

This game is just a rip off of Threes, which is a much harder and better game

over 4000 and quit. I realize you are not trying to get the high score. Stupid game

Not much room for error. I had a 512, 256 and 128. There isn't much room to maneuver once you get that many big tiles.

Pics or it didn't happen. Closest I got after 5 tries. try to keep all the big #at the bottom as long as possible is the best strategy for me so far.

What's the strategy of the 2 guys that won?
I did it by picking a corner to "store" my big tiles (I did top-right). So you just move everything toward that corner. I avoided moving anything to the left at all costs (until the very end), but I had to move down quite a bit, but always tried to go back up immediately. This way the bottom-left of the board stayed empty, so when a 2 or 4 tile drops just move it up or right to merge it with another. I actually just did some key banging for a while (up up up up right right right right etc) until I got some medium tiles, then carefully moved everything up/down and to the right to consolidate. Once I had cleared space in the bottom left again, I did a little more key banging. It takes a few tries but you'll get it eventually.
ETA: Another tip when the board starts filling up, be sure you merge tiles in a direction where you will be able to merge again on the next turn. In other words, if you have 8 on top of 8, and 16 to the right of the bottom 8, merge those eights in a way that you end up with 16 side by side. It sounds obvious but it's easy to screw up.
