I'd have to imagine living near chicken farms has to be worse. Living near a Cargill sow farm was no picnic, either.

Chicken processing plant on eastern shore in Maryland would gag a maggot. Couldn’t eat chicken for weeks after passing through that area.

There is apparently a dog food factory in or around Byram, MS, which makes the area smell like shite.

Being downwind from Georgia Pacific isn’t fun on the days when the wind shifts, either.

If you’re not used to it I guess it stinks. It reminds me of visiting relatives for Christmas as a kid. It’s a smell but I don’t think it’s bad.

Same. Mother was from Crossett, Ark. That smell reminds me of visits to the grandparents.

I grew up on 964 just before Thompson Creek. After a while, you don’t even notice it. That being said, I can’t imagine people living in the shadows of a Pogey Plant have the same tolerance. Out of a Paper Mill, Sugar Mill, Dead Body, and a Pogey Plant..... A Pogey Plant hands down has to be the worst fricking smell I’ve ever smelt!

Yes it will. Sugar mill smells worse than paper in my opinion.

I live within 5 miles of one, not always downwind though.

You get used to it, small price to pay to live in an area I love

I'd dare to say most of the folks complaining about the "smell" of a paper mill wouldn't be able to field dress a deer if they had to.

When I was still stuck in MS, I had to drive past a chicken processing factory to get to work.

Give me the paper mill instead. That smell was unholy. Right up there with pogie fish plants.

pogey factory got my vote.

Cameron · May 4, 2015 · POGIE PLANT FOR LEASE. ... HERE IS A SUBLEASE OF AN EXISTING 35 ACRE SITE ON THE CALCASIEU SHIP CHANNEL. ... ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS LEASE IS A 17 ACRE AIR-STRIP LOCATED ACROSS THE HIGHWAY FROM THE PLANT - STRIP WAS USED BY SPOTTER PLANES.

The spotter flies the gulf and radios the fishing boat where the school is.
