Problem is, the bride and groom fricking take forever to arrive because of pics, etc. At a Catholic wedding that starts at 6:30-7:00 you're not eating until damn near 10pm.

It’s like someone should invent a small vessel for one to carry discretely on their person, that would hold a few ounces of their favourite spirit, for easy consumption in case they ever find themselves in need of a drink without being served one.

I'm not saying all Catholic weddings are that way but if the bride and groom dick around and they don't serve food until they get there, it can get late.

Went to an Idian wedding once. After the ceremony we had to go stand outside while, they converted the venue for the reception. It was 95 degrees, no shade and no drinks offered. We stayed out there for 90 minutes before they let us back in the venue. There were some salty people at the reception.

You're lucky they didn't serve the food and drink and then take it back.

Improvise. Adapt and overcome.

Plenty of the guests were drinking before the bride and groom got there......

Most wedding in New Orleans do not, the entire reception is cocktail hour with food. When I moved up North I went to my first wedding with a cocktail hour then the sit down dinner, hated it. When we got married it was the New Orleans style reception and most people up here were a little confused that there was no assigned seating

I am unsure what you means by "wait ... before the bride and groom arrived...", but I have waited UNTIL the bride and groom arrived to begin eating.

That said, I think you owe it to your guest to get them eating and drinking as quickly as possible. Get the dances going soon, cut the cake, then party hard the rest of the night/evening/day.

You clearly have never been married if you think they’re dicking around. The time between ceremony and reception is pictures and it’s the worst part because you just want to get done and start partying.

I worked with some Indians a few years back and was invited to a wedding. The invite said 7:30, so the wife and I show up at 7:25. NO ONE is there at the venue. Not a soul. A couple of minutes later a coworker and her husband show up, also both Americans. We walked around looking fr someone and nothing. We started checking the invitation to make sure had the right date and time, yep, it all checked out.

About 20 minutes go by and then the brother of the groom, who was also a coworker, comes out dressed in jeans and a T shirt and says "hey, I thought y'all might be here. Suhail forgot to tell y'll, Indian weddings NEVER start on time. Y'all should probably go find someplace to get a drink or something, people will start getting here around 9."

We couldn't believe it. We were starving so we went to dinner, had a few drinks, then came back for the ceremony. Being someone who insists on being early for everything, this shite drove me CRAZY.
