Has the 10:00 news lost its luster?

When I was a kid growing up, it was a welcomed routine for the family to gather and watch the 10:00 news before shutting everything down and going to bed. Of course there was no internet or social media then so each portion was anxiously anticipated.

Now, I feel it serves no purpose. They try and make it interesting by running silly stories and the weather/sports serves no purpose in today's times. Oh well...just venting.

I agree. Both WBRZ and WAFB are not what they once were. Internet and social media have a lot to do with it.

Welcome to 15 years ago.
Only old people who put their moo moos on at 5:45 after dinner really watch news anymore on a local level.

I don't watch b/c I got sick of seeing 20 minutes of crime stories about male suspects, of average height wearing clothes

Considering the basic philosophy of local news -- "If it bleeds, it leads" -- I used to wonder what TV stations in cities without a certain demographic would find to fill their air time. I met a guy from one of these cities and he told me: "Car wrecks".

WAFB Donna Britt

Adults don't act like adults anymore - hence they don't consume the news the same way - even for today's internet audience.

I wish we could get a 10pm roundup of popular threads and topics condensed to one post for the rest of us that have strict jobs to see...

Conan O'Brien moving to 10PM on TBS killed that time slot for anything else.
Known fact.

I actually still do this routine. Part of me likes the nostalgia, and part of me likes to hear of the new stories.

Many of the stories I don't care for.

I particularly like News with a twist now, as it showcases the fun going on in the city, and minimizes the gloomy murder/crime coverage.
