Also, people tend to be a lot more open and challenging toward others online thanks to the mask of anonymity
I'm not really sure that makes us more social. I'd put that in the information category. If anything, the anonymity has led to more anti social behavior.
It's awesome for hooking up with strangers though, if that's someones thing. Or it used to be, I'm out of that game.

Surely 2
Explain your idea of lower culture.

Clearly I know this and we have a vast number to draw from to see that on display, ever growing numbers I would say too, but even amongst the kids attending private schools today, all I have to do is pull out my yearbook and compare it to a yearbook today amongst similar private school kids and see the differences. We might have had two or three kids out of a hundred or so that were overweight in our class picture. Today that number is almost the other way around at times. We are a fat society, and that's happened through the negative effects of the internet, 300 some odd TV stations, fast food everywhere as people's go to eats, fast paced society, and lack of focus on cooking and healthy eating, or even what constitutes healthy eating. In times past, those southern high fuel slow cooked staples may not have had a chance to stick around before we burned it off, and now with a more sedentary lifestyle it doesn't get a chance to burn off.

You must be a young person, too. Don't worry, I'll be dead before I get left behind.
Grandma, can you get me another grape soda?

I know you don't believe this, but as you age, your views of many things will change too. You will also look fondly back on the days of your youth.
Technology has been amazing for educational and information purposes, but whether it's made social interaction between people better or worse will depend on your perspective.
I honestly believe personal social interactions have suffered and people are socially awkward compared to 20 years ago. However, in dealing with impersonal screen names people are much more open about what they really feel.

I don't fully agree with what sfp is saying and I'm a bit younger than him and in college. With that said, why is something like less phone calls a bad thing? If I can instantly text someone and get to the point quicker than why not? Unless I'm
shooting the shite with buddies or making plans with someone who isn't answering text then I'm rarely on the phone. Most people my age are the same way.

the same reason why less time spent walking over and talking to people was seen a a bad thing compared to phone calls in the 70s/80s
same argument. different tech

Yeah, in the 80s and 90s you heard how people spend to much time on tv and telephone, now its internet. I am glad FB and cell phones with pictures weren't around when I was in school though just for the fact I did alot more stupid shite then and wouldn't want those pictures around forever. I for one did notice a few weeks ago when wife and I went out to eat about 4 teenagers literally not talking. Now I didn't sit and observe them the entire time, but between wife and I, when we glanced their way they never said a word and were on phones the entire time. I could care less, just an observation.
