The new Jeep Grand Cherokees are pretty good. The Ram pickups have always been better than the other Chrysler products as well. Minivans have also been an area where they put a lot of effort.
I don't know anything about their cars.

My experiences over a decade ago doesn't answer the question of "now".

A lot of the complaints about the Challenger/Charger duo compared to Toyota or what have you is largely due to Dodge using inferior materials in the interiors compared to Toyota, Well of course they do, they want to meet a certain price point and have decided that they rather cut cost in interior materials rather than in engines ,etc etc. Yeah okay, the interior of a Toyota Camry will probably wear better than the interior of a Challenger, wanna race?

Ram might be ok but avoid all other FCA products.....even jeep. Complete garbage

I bought the wife a new 2014 Chrysler 300S and so far with 80K miles we have not had a single issue with it.Only time will tell, but so far it has been a great vehicle.

2014 Durango Citadel owner here.
Great car. Not a rattle anywhere. Smooth everything. Great upholstery and driver's seat really tucks you in nicely.
Would buy again.

CR rates overall brand reliability of 29 car/truck brands.
Jeep is 23rd, Dodge is 26th, Chrysler is 27th, Fiat is 28th and Ram is dead last at 29th. The numbers for all of them are scary and the Ram numbers are staggering.
As one would expect Lexus and Toyota are #1 and #2. For some anecdotal Lexus info I have a 2006 ES that I use just for business travel and it has 430k miles and the only non-wear item replacement has been a tail light bulb at about 130k and one of the downstream O2 sensors at 350k, total repairs have been less than $150.

Nobody thinks 'Dodge' and 'reliability'

My small business does vendor work at several dealerships. You would be shocked to see how many more Dodge/Ram vehicles have to have engines replaced under warranty vs other manufacturers.

I had a 2000 Dodge Neon I put 250,000 miles on. Reliability-wise it was one of, if not the best cars I've ever owned. Other than just normal wear and tear, the alternator had to be replace twice, that was the only problem I ever had with it.

The Grand Cherokee is a good vehicle.

Yes.
To give you some perspective. In the last 3 years I have owned a 2013 ram 1500 longhorn, 2013 ford explorer, 2017 ford mustang gt, and a 2017 Tahoe z71.
With these vehicles only being a 4 year gap from one another, i feel this is a fair comparison. I will rank the brands off of my experiences with these vehicles i have owned.
1) Chevy
2)Ram/dodge/chrysler
3)ford.
My fords have had the worst quality. panel gaps have been absolutely atrocious. My mustangs trunk rubbed on the body chipping paint (i have since fixed this) it came this way new. My wife's explorer was the opposite. There was at least a 2 in gap in the cabin of one of the interior panels. After purchasing the fords, i noticed several explorers with similar interior gaps, not so much on the mustang. some poeple on forums have expressed similar issues. but not as common or reported
The chevy's and rams interior and exterior are very comparable. no real issues at all. Actually very nice. The ram did have some issue with the leather seats but it was completely replaced under warranty, i put this in a one off issue and not something that is common to FCG.
The ram did have some issues with reverse and electronics. after a couple updates from the dealer it fixed the problem.
Mechanically, i have had no issues with any. all have been reliable. granted the explorer only had 50k put on it and the ram about the same.
The tahoe and mustang only have about 7k each so i would expect to not have any issues.
Hope this helps.

Challenger is a solid platform. Been around relatively unchanged since 2008. Probably the best car to daily in that class.

If you buy a dodge NEW and drive it until 100k and are ok with horrible resell value , then go dodge.
I know three people that have owned late model DODGES and once they hit 100k , they break down ... fast.
Im a Toyota guy , but dont seem to keep one more than a year before trading it in , but the resell / trade in value is always near what I bought it for - We just sold my wife's V6 lexus with 200k that had zero issues other than the water pump going out at 180k . Sold it for 8k .
Had a FJ cruiser with 170k that I sold for 15k - Not bragging , just saying.

I have almost 70,000 miles on my Durango and the only repair so far is one of the tire pressure sensors stopped working. It was replaced under warranty.

The FJ is an anomaly. While not to the same extent the FJ is like buying a Supra in 2006/07, a discontinued niche vehicle that people want with no clear replacement in the short term.

I owned a Charger that ended up with 120,000 miles on it before I traded it in, and I had no problems with it.
I also recently bought a Challenger Scatpack with their 392 Hemi, and I love the damn thing. Now it only has 6,000 miles on it so far, so I can't attest to its reliability yet. But I got an extended bumper to bumper warranty for up to 140,000 miles, so I'm not too worried. That damn thing is so fun to drive, and it drives really "comfortably" for a muscle car.

The ScatPack is so underrated. One of the better bang for the buck vehicles around and can be easily daily driven.

Can't beat 485 hp for $46,000 (I got most of the bells and whistles on mine), and it is mainly my daily driver to work (only about 15 minutes from my house). Heck, if you dive it right you can get decent gas mileage for a 6.4L car (I'm getting 19.7 mpg at the moment).
