Has anyone tried this with a car salesman?

Offering the lot lizard if they get you the vehicle for the lowest price possible, you’ll pay them cash whatever commission they would’ve made on a normal priced sale.
So they get commission on the vehicle you buy plus a little more cash on the side as incentive

That doesn't help them when they go to their boss with a ridiculously low offer. He's just the middle man

How would you know you’d be getting the lowest price. That offer would make you a sucker.

Yep. And soon to be a thing of the past.

Last time I bought a new vehicle, I sent an email to around 30 dealerships I had researched known to have “the lowest price” on this particular vehicle. I had built the vehicle online with the exact specs I wanted and didn’t and told them if they had it on their lot or if they had to order it I don’t care but this is exactly what I am buying and will not accept anything different. Told them I had sent the email to multiple other dealerships and I was going to be purchasing within 48 hours to the lowest price.
About 25% didn’t response, the spread between the dealers that DID respond was insane...like $5500 if I remember correctly. At the 48 hour mark I sent the 2nd lowest dealer the lowest dealers price with a screenshot of all the details and asked them to beat it. They called and said if that’s a real price and not photoshopped, just go and buy it because they had no idea how the dealer wasn’t losing an arse load of money. Went straight to the first dealer and purchased; total luck of the draw but out of the 30 dealers I emailed in like 6-7 different states (I was planning to fly to pick it up if the deal made sense) that the dealer I purchased from was like 15 mins down the road.
....The 2nd dealer called the next day and said they’d beat the price by $100 and I told them it was too late and like I said in the email they only had 48 hours. Moral of the story: All car salesmen lie.

Way too much work to buy a car. If you know what you're doing there's no need to speak to more than 3 dealerships.
Also, 30 dealerships now have your email address. Talk about a spam nightmare.

Here's what works: research what you want to buy and decide what you're willing to pay OUT THE DOOR.
Stick to that number. If dealership A won't play, go to dealership B. Someone will accept your terms, especially near monty's end.
Used this strategy for four purchases. Worked every time.
One car I bought almost five years ago has a Blue Book value today only $1000 less than I paid for it. It was used and had been on their lot almost 90 days. Still runs like new.

It’s all about timing. Some dealers will lose money on cars to make the quota to get their bonus from the manufacturer. They may lose a few thousand to collect a few hundred thousand in bonus.

I did the same exact thing mentioned above. It was easy. Ovvisouly set up a throwaway email account for this.

I think I’d pay 10k extra to not have to deal with flying anywhere to purchase a vehicle.

Not sure if the A&M definition is different but a lot lizard ain't a used car salesman...

Just buy a used car from the private market and don't deal with stealership BS

Yep. My grandfather told me this while buying my first vehicle. Someone WILL meet your price if they want to sell a car bad enough.
*It has to be reasonable. You can't set your price at $10k on a $30k vehicle.

Be friends with the owner of the dealership and get it $50 over invoice. Y'all make things too complicated.

I would be interested in any negotiating tips with these lot lizards.

If his mgr is his drinking buddy, it should work just fine - they split the cash 60/40 or so.
