I was fairly left leaning, but not a psycho, for many years of our relationship. My husband was not, but he was fairly apolitical so it wasn't a thing.
Then he became political. We argued a good bit from 2016-2019, but again.. I wasn't a crazy pants. And while the left was annoying back then, they weren't the animal they are now.
Then 2020 happened. Between Covid and the summer of love, I fell so hard right it was like whiplash. Now I'm further right than I ever was left.
I originally found the conservative subreddit because I was Googling around trying to find people that weren't complete lunatics on Covid. I ended up sticking around for all of the other discussions, and then the rioting happened. I never left.
So I guess I can thank Reddit.

A casual liberal/conservative can coexist with an opposite minded person because it’s not really a deeply seated part of their sense of self.
Someone who is a socialist and attending rallies is very likely heavily personally invested in the mindset and culture that accompanies the left wing in 2023 and anything that challenges that will be viewed as a threat to their inner values.
Beyond that those belief structures transcend politics. It will define how she frames the actions in her personal life and cause you two to fight when she comes back because she will see almost everything in a different way than you do.
These situations usually only go one of two ways: either someone gets onboard with the others politics or the two find themselves in constant conflict and acrimony.
Your best case if you stick around and don’t change is a guarded detente in which neither side is happy but refuses to address the issues out of loyalty and sentimentality for how they once viewed the other. Think of many of the people you know in unhappy marriages and realize that is basically your best case scenario unless someone changes their core identity here.
TLDR: it’s a really bad idea because she’s not a good fit for you.

I had a six month relationship with a far left liberal woman. We never lived together so we could get away from each other when we needed. We never discussed politics and never watched newscasts together, but eventually we both saw this relationship was going nowhere and split amicably. (She gave the best BJs I ever had!)

I dated a girl that's probably a moderate liberal and it wouldn't have worked out long term. We're still really good friends, but she's just too into politics and current events for me. Aside from the character I play on here, I couldn't give a shite less about these kind of things when it comes to IRL.

Being a Progressive is proof that a person doesn't understand human nature, is a social conformist, is ignorant of history, believes that mankind does not share a universal struggle (group victimology) and is highly unlikely to confuse the sacred with the profane and vice versa. That's just a starter. And while I do find the non-rigidity and acceptance of grey areas VERY attractive, I can find that with a more Libertarian woman who doesn't think Man (government) is God.
It's taken me a while to just say no to attractive Lefty chicks, but for me it's now a non-starter. You start by definition, on unfirm ground. It's a GIGANTIC red flag that the same messiness she brings to her politics she is likely to bring to her personal life. The sad truth is that the rage and discontent and entitlement and grievance that is innate in those who are plugged into the Progressive Hive Mind bleeds over into every other aspect of their lives.
A moderate woman that disagrees on the size and scope of government? No problem. I yield to that. I've recently had that and am fine with it. I don't need someone to adopt my views, just not to be a Progressive nut. And a libertarian-DNGASF-type hippy, barefooted artistic chick who loves weird music and dances like Elaine from Seinfeld? I'll get in line for that. I DIG art world literate chicks with an old-school personal freedom oriented POV, provided they aren't all in on The Woke insanity.
Dump her. Socialism is about coercion and control of others, and a window into her soul. She's too messy and will bring you both down.
