My experience with academy grads are one of two extremes. They were either the most professional, awesome people to work with/for, or they were the biggest sacks of toxic shite I'd ever met.

Went to school with a bunch of military academy graduates. About 60% were awesome. 40% were shitbags.

It’s funny, I know two. One is the type of guy you’d want your sister to marry... the other was dumb as rocks and your typical spoiled rich kid with a “I’m better than you“ complex. Obviously #2’s daddy bought his way in.

I worked with two Annapolis grads and have a friend whose son is an Air Force Academy grad. All 3 are first class stand up guys that I am proud to know.
Also have a distant relative who is married to a female West Point grad. She’s a looker and wild as they get.

There's a easy way to tell them apart. When you first meet them, do they immediately tell you they are an academy graduate or do you have to pull it out of them?

I graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy. The saying is it’s not a great place to be but a great place to be from. Earned a degree for free, a USCG unlimited tonnage license and a Commision in the Navy. Eventually went active duty and received 2 Masters degree for free.
First year sucked but playing football and baseball made it better. Met great friends for life, who all have done well for themselves ie O-6 in various military branches, CEOs of shipping companies, River pilots etc.

If I worked with an incompetent, out of touch, arsehole in the Navy, it was guaranteed that the officer was from the academy. I’m not sure what they teach them there, but the academy graduates were hands down the worst officers I worked with.

They call them ringtappers for a reason.
I worked with two. One is a stupid smart guy that you’d never know was an Annapolis grad. I mean he did electronic warfare in the navy.
The other guy is a tool that you spend more time eye rolling than you do anything.
