Got a flier in my mail from a production company expressing interest in using my home as a movie set. Has anyone on here had that happen? Wondering if they throw a bunch of money at you for the inconvenience

They pay you. But they will also destroy your house. So. Enjoy.

This is the answer. Buddy did it. They paid a shite ton and he was bragging until he had to replace floors, curtains, sheet rock, etc. Looked like they ran a herd of cattle through his place.

I have, and I've represented people negotiating location agreements. You will sustain damage. You don't want to do it for the money. Also, not all productions are equal - some have enough solvency to cover damage, some do not.

Example: Company loans a speed boat to a movie. When returned, it had holes drilled in it. The production was shut down, the accounting office closed so the marina would have lost money BUT they charged enough to be able to repair the damage.

A good portion of the Dukes of Hazzard movie was filmed in Clinton and the Plains above Zachary. The farmhouse and barn where it was set belonged to a former coworkers parents. From what he told me It turned their lives upside down for a few months but he said it was really cool hanging out with the cast. I don't think they made a lot off of it. My friend and his family are actually in the final scene where they are dancing under the oak trees.

I've seen good experiences, but typically those have involved older homes. The Great Debaters was great regarding houses but not so great regarding cars (though one of our cars was damaged and they completely repainted it - a 32 Buick).

My neighbor's house has been in two horror movies. He had to move out during filming and we had to add some special provision (e.g. disable the backup beepers so they wouldn't disturb the neighborhood at three a.m.). One day, one of his dogs growled at the movie's security guard, who then called the local police, who then shot and killed the dog.

I met the lady who owned the house in Houma where Brittany Murphy's movie "Deadline" was filmed. Her house wasn't trashed, but she said they did most of the filming overnight and it made it impossible to sleep in the next room with all the noise.

Many times they are just interested in seeing the inside of your home to see If it fits their needs. They may send out 20 letters, look at 10, and pick one.

I would listen to see what kind of money they offer and what they intend to do about restoring your home to pre-shoot shape.

They wanted to film the Gerard Butler movie where he bangs soccer moms in my parents house. They and all of our neighbors turned them down because it wasn't worth the hassle/damage.

ETA: We didn't get a flier. A location scout came to our house a few times and talked to us.

She is uneducated and has said many incredibly dumb/naive things. She cheated on her storybook marriage with Johnny Knoxville.

The flip side is that she has a net worth of $150 million.

I bet when she lays on her back the puppies lay on the bed on her sides.

I got paid $700 for a movie to use my apt for a day to film a scene. And $500 for a different movie to do the same. Each were only filming 1 scene, so it was painless. Both times they occupied my place for about 10 hours.
