Has anyone had any luck with travel insurance and Corona?

My trip to Canada wasn't until the second week of May, but I've made the decision to go ahead and cancel since the person I was traveling with has a pre-existing lung condition. Thankfully this *hopefully* gave us a out. Apparently my travel insurance policy does not cover "fear of flying" due to Covid-19, but a doctor's note explaining that you shouldn't fly due to unsafe travel conditions would suffice. I have the note ready to go, but it's been near impossible to get into contact with my insurance provider. Phones have been swamped. I'm going to try again this morning and hopefully will get some results.

Force Majeure. No ones insurance is paying out.

I know of at least one person who received a payment so far from their provider. I definitely believe he is in the minority though.

Have a chase Sapphire card. Called them and disputed airline and resort charges. They gave me a temporary credit on everything. I couldn't get in touch with the resort so this is only way to get at them

What is your trip doing that you can’t cancel? May is also a long way away, I don’t see travel insurance covering something 4+ weeks away.

When I had to use travel insurance my travel agent handled everything. It wasn't due to kung flu, but still, talk to your agent. She got us all kinds of free upgrades on the rescheduled trip and some cash in our pockets.

Who are you flying with and where are you staying?
Go directly to those places rather than through the trip insurance shite.
I had to cancel two trips through May. No issues getting fully refunded for anything.

Bend over, cause Expedia gonna screw ya.

Why would they give you money back for a hypothetical 5 weeks away. You can’t get a credit because you’re afraid of hurricane season. If the impact extends to May which it will, you’ll be able to cancel. If not why skip it?
