30 seems unlikely that you have shingles. You would know it if you had it. Its incredibly painful

Does anyone have any experience with shingles at a relatively young age? (I'm roughly 30, FYI)

Had my first out break about two weeks ago. Was a lite case. Got on the meds and within a week it just about cleared up. Will be getting the shot soon.

I had them a year ago on the left side of my face and head. Initial symptoms were headache and other cold symptoms. I only went to a walk-in clinic for it because I had finally gotten rid of a cough that had lingered for months and I was frustrated at another cold seemingly coming on.
I mentioned at the end of my exam that I had a sore on my temple (covered by my hair) and the doctor thought about it for a second and said I may have shingles. He put me on an anti-viral. The meds work well when diagnosed early.
I still developed more of the sores. But the worst part were lightning like zaps in my head. I was fully back in action in a couple of weeks.

Had shingles when I was around 30.
I can’t remember exactly but I remember by ab section and back only on one side of my body was tingly and sensitive/sore.
Thought it was really odd. Just uncomfortable but not painful

SO they gave her something to treat the symptoms?
My understanding is that one you have it, it's there to stay.
Yes, what she was told (and my grandma too when she had them) is the virus stays in your body (it’s the chicken pox virus) and sometimes it ‘flares up’ in the form of shingles
My coworker was given anti virals for the symptoms - but it does not make the virus go away. I’m not sure if my grandma was given something bc she was stubborn and probably wouldn’t take it anyway.

Most painful thing I’ve dealt with. Had on arms and back. It hurt to even wear a shirt

Just took the shingles vaccine. 2 shots. My uncle said shingles was the most pain he’s been in

We had our second shot last week (90 days after the first vaccine shot) The first shot was fine, with no problems at all. The second hit hard. Still feel like crap after a week and shoulder is very sore. They said that might happen and it did.
However, I had shingles two years ago and it was the pits. Crazy itchy pain for over two weeks, even though our physician gave me what he said was the best drugs available. Shingles is characteristic for hitting only one side of your body, or the other. A typical place is your back at your beltline. I am weird. Mine was on my left arm. I still have a discoloration where the sores occurred. There is no way to adequately describe the never ending pain. It starts as, "I can handle this". Then after several days of it not stopping, you get plenty tired of nonstop irritating, burning pain.
The two vaccination shots are worth it. Sadly, they can be pretty expensive. Close to $300.00 with the discount they offer if you ask for it. Without the discount, one of the two shots required is $900.00.

I had an apparently mild case when I was 69, a grouping of rashes on my left upper chest. I say mild because I had no pain whatsoever & the itching was not that bothersome. I am friendly with a pharmacist at Albertsons & asked if she would mind taking a guess. I partially unbuttoned my shirt to show her the rash & she took one look & immediately diagnosed shingles. Got a Rx from my primary care physician & within 2 weeks I was good. Have not had the 2 shot vaccination series, rather, one then & then another a few mths ago or 3 yrs apart. No reaction from the shot, either. On the other hand, a friend had it near his left eye & had serious issues. Get it looked at asap.

I am on my second round of shingles in 3 months
Luckily I freaked out when my leg was burning like I had a sunburn and the OT told me to call the doctor. He called in antivirals and I was better within a week. Same thing two months later on the opposite leg.

Yes.
Had them in early 30s.
Neuropathic pain can be terrible if they are bad enough.

I had shingles when I was in college, probably 22 years old. Had a couple spots on my ribs and lower back that itched but my whole left side of my body hurt. It was weird. Swollen lymph nodes as well. Wasn’t particularly painful, but more annoying than anything.

Never had it and don't want it. Heard today there is a shot you can get if you haven't
had it before. Can anyone comment on the shot, true false, get or not?

My understanding is the 2 shot vaccine is only given to age 50 and older.
