We used to look for the purple "wrap" around the stem. I think the color was purple. Find a couple of those, go to the other cow turds, flick the spores on them. Go back to the tents and camp fire, wait a few hours, go back and pick more. We'd leave with a few trash bags full.

It's pretty remarkable how quick they grow.

Eta - the 3 shrooms on the middle/bottom right of this pic show the little purple thing I'm talking about...

I watched Menace 2 Society on LSD one time and gained a higher understanding of black people.

When I was at LSU there were still cow pastures just off campus and we would go look for shrooms there. 2 of the guys knew what to look for, they both ended up professors of microbiology, one ended up a dean, anywho, I was in good hands. They would mix it in orange juice to cut the funk and we would drink it.

I remember hearing stories of people getting them there and the kleinpeter farms.

I recall we talked about going out there but we were too lazy....for some reason....there were cows on the leavy by the vet school too back then so that was a regular stop.

Fungi be like, a suitable climate...

They're literally all over the world. They can grow places lots of other species can't.

For example, there's a fungus being used that cleans up oil spills. They get the spores on the oil, place a tarp over it and come back a little later and the shrooms grow out of the oil and in the process, they Clean it up. It's a really interesting, remarkable species.

Yes, and have witnessed many such in others.

It's very important to deliberately and intentionally curate the experience (as opposed to just eating mushrooms/LSD/etc. and going to a concert or whatever).

5meo-DMT and ayahuasca are also highly impactful in a positive way.

I'm interested in this as well. If/when I do psychedelics again, it'll probably be that or shrooms.

Any tips or experiences you care to share?

Interesting. I'll have to check for that purple wrap next time I'm up there. Do they grow year around, and how do you know when they are ready to pick?

Where you are, they should basically grow year round...

quote:

Where can I find shrooms near me?

Fortunately, mushrooms grow naturally in most areas of the world. If you live in North America, you can find magic mushrooms in the Pacific Northwest, Northeast, and around the Gulf of Mexico. Hawaii also seems to be a paradise for world-class strains.

Mexico, Central America, and South America are also brimming with wild magic mushrooms. Specifically, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, and Argentina have large mycelial networks.

Other locations with ample shroom varieties include South Africa, the east coast of Australia, South India, the Philippines, and the coastal region of Southeast Asia.

Oh, and you can find them growing all over Europe, too.

quote:

Where do wild psilocybin mushrooms like to grow in nature?

Wild shrooms could absolutely appear in terrains near you. But the environment has to meet a few fungi-friendly conditions first:

Magic mushrooms need moisture for optimal growth. Dry air and wind can easily kill them. So you’re more likely to find mushrooms in shaded areas because the absence of light helps the air retain moisture.

Magic mushrooms also require specific temperatures, which vary based on the species.

I can't remember exactly how we knew they were ready. It doesn't take long though, just a few hours.

I want to say we went by size, but may be remembering that wrong. I think anything over 6-8", we took.

I did LSD a handful of times in college back in the early 90s. Never had a bad trip but I really didn’t care for how long it took to wear off. Took two tabs one night at 10:00 pm and it didn’t fade away until 2:00pm the following day. I will say that when I was on LSD, I became extremely philosophical and perceived simple things we usually never contemplate with from a far different perspective. One night while tripping with a few friends, I became strangely attached to the old magnolia trees on UGAs north campus. Hugging a damn tree and talking to it like it could actually comprehend me. Zoned in on a spider and felt like it was the most amazing creature I had ever seen. Just zoned in and I guess you could describe it as an enchanted trance.

Also did mushrooms and preferred them over acid. Much shorter duration but never put me in the state of mind as LSD did.

The thing I liked the best was mescaline (synthetic peyote.) It was a 5 hour laugh fest. Laughing so hard that my abs hurt the following day. Every time we did that drug we were overnight camping at the base of High Shoals Falls up in the North Georgia Mountains. That was 30 years ago but damn, I still remember remember those nights sitting around the campfire with 3-4 buddies just laughing for hours on end.

I kind of forgot about mescaline, tbh. Knew some people who did it back in school. Going to have to look at it now, as well.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I’ve listened to a lot of Ram Dass and he talks about having his initial breakthrough doing psilocybin. His friend Timothy Leary said he learned more about the mind in twelve hours than all his life in the behavioral health field. They were both professors at Harvard.

Just curious-anyone ever had an experience like this?

Shrooms..As another poster said, it resets your mind and connects ideas you didn't think of previously. It's like blowing into the Nintendo 64 cartridge and hitting reset I can't recommend them enough..The world would be a better place if more people tried them, makes you feel in touch with the earth and those around you.

I do not like LSD. I've only done it once and it just lasts too long.

Once you learn how to control your trip, it's easier. The first time is a shock to the senses. You basically push your energy in a direction. The best recommendation is turning on some music and closing your eyes and letting the sound take you.. You can start to see the music in your mind.

Read The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley, its about mescaline but he nails the way it makes you feel. Also where the name The Doors is comes from.

Any other questions, feel free to ask
