I went to a wedding where the groom left halfway through the ceremony. The bride's dad got up and dragged his arse back to finish the ceremony. Surprisingly, the marriage didn't last.

My friends were getting married. White girl and a black guy. The bride’s dad didn’t approve. The dad befriended me throughout the engagement and was seriously struggling before the wedding. I reminded him how she is choosing what she wants. He calmed down after my reassurance but I still feel terrible for him. Regardless of the reason and the racism, it sucks to see a dad not happy and truly upset over who his daughter is marrying, for any reason. I have never told my friends about the dad and never will.

What was the cause of this? If this was going to be a normal wedding, someone is out a whole lot of damn $$$.
can't post on this site because it was actually in BR - but it was definitely for the best. Rehearsal dinner and reception went on as planned. It became one big family reunion.

Not during, but my college roommate and I tried to talk one of our close friends out of marrying his wife. We told him about 2 or 3 hours before the ceremony that if we left now, we'd be in Florida before she or anyone else would know he was gone (the wedding was in Charleston). Told my girlfriend (no pics) at the time (who I'd brought to the wedding) and she was totally on board with it; she just said, "Let me know where I need to come get you and when."

Went to a wedding downtown NOLA where the groom just never showed up. Brides rich parents from New York had paid for a huge wedding and reception with full course meals served. Groom became pissed when the brides mom was planning everything and bossing everyone around. He just got drunk and stayed at his camp. They eventually got married.
