Has anyone even been accepted to run the Barkley?

Recent discussion of Everest coincided with the running of the Barkley in east Tennessee.
Only eight people have ever finished the Barkely and many only finish the fun loops (the first three). This year, no one made it past the third Marathon.

Here's a read about the race that may just be the most exclusive cross country race going. (and an entry fee of less than two dollars US.)

Tremendous documentary. The guys who want to run it have a screw loose.

it's like 15 people that have finished now. So it's pretty much too easy for me to even think about.

Seriously though, I sometimes think its be neat to try an ultra marathon, then I realize I am not a fan of running 15 miles, much less a Marathon, much less 100. And that isn't even touching the surface of what those crazy people go through in the woods.

It's a bucket list race for me.

I'm running Barkley Fall Classic in September, which is basically one loop of the Barkley 100.

Enjoyed the Barkley article, sounds like a brutal, quirky race. Everest has a marathon as well. link. My Sherpa won it a few years ago.

I’d enjoy being the race director for a day. He sounds like he has a fun time, getting a bunch of super runners together and trolling them for 60 hours

Pecker could probably do it hungover and barefooted in record time

Got a buddy who managed to get accepted and make an attempt a couple years ago. He missed the cutoff for the first loop.

Best part is he said even in his prime he’d have no chance of finishing it
