I am confused. Normally the NW quadrant is the worst but it look like the N or NE has been the worst for a while.

Yeah, the photo is pretty insane, and could be shopped, but this was video if I-10 from the TX-DOT:

The twitter pics of Beaumont confirm that interstate pic

Slack, GeauxMedic, Duke, rds, Rummey -- any weather guy --
I'm reading this and our friend Harvey is moving East according to what I can see and from what they are saying.
Do y'all see anything going on?? It's only 50 mph but I'm wondering what y'alls thoughts are on this thing? Just don't tell me that Vermilion Bay is in play. Please and thank you.

1 foot or 10 feet ... does it matter that much?
Yes, yes it does.
Obviously bad when you are in that 10'.
1' means you cut off walls at 4' and gut below that. Repairs will obviously more expensive when the water goes 2' into the attic.
Not trying to be a smartass. Just pointing out what it was like for us.
And I was truly not trying to be insensitive. I guess I just see any water as a pita and inconvenient for sure. Still praying for those affected.

South side of interstate.

The front right quadrant of a storm is typically the worst, and it is all relative to the direction of the storm.
Most storms hitting along the gulf are moving in a northern direction, so the NE quadrant is typically the worst.
