here's an almost exploded situation? What's the deal? If it gets more water then it goes down? I know it was mentioned before but I'm not searching through 15 pages to find it.
Chemicals need to be kept below certain temp or else they become unstable and could explode.
Main power system has been down for days.
Backup generators have all failed due to flooding.
Last option is diesel powered containers. All chemicals have been moved to these containers, but they are also starting to fail due to flooding.

Cajun Navy getting all kind of love on KPRC right now.

It's all about keeping the peroxides below a certain temperature. If they lose refrigeration and can't get it back up quickly, they'll probably have a massive fire on their hands.

Lake Houston was 52.44 feet at 3.30pm, up from 52.38 feet last hour. The 1994 record is 52.79.

Just wanted to say your post the last few hours or so have been solid and well sourced.

I'm not sure you are "doing the right thing" if you don't buy flood insurance
Agreed. Really small cost for something catasrophic. If you don't have one call today and they can set you up in about 10 minutes max.
It does take 30 days to kick in but it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Just got mine, just figured it was too much a risk not too.

Thanks its hard to do when you have so much misinformation that is spilled out sometimes on social media/news outlets that is run and appears credible. Sorry some of the info in the past has been deemed to be BS at times.

Why are schools closed? Im seeing tomorrow looking pretty good for most of south LA
They're going to err on the side of caution when a major city just received 50" from the same storm.
Probably a wasted day, but that's a good thing in this case.

They'll decomp and explode if they get too warm.

We've been wasting days in St. Landry all week so far. Been home for two days because our daycare is closed as well.

Any idea on Graywood in Lake Charles?

I said this in an earlier thread, but it's probably better safe than sorry than to have more cars on the road with localized street flooding. It was getting rough this morning when I was out in it in Gonzales. People already cannot drive. Let's not add to the equation.

I don't believe home insurance helps you for any natural disasters
It does. Wind damage, lightning, water damage from damage to your roof or windows, etc.
It does, SF paid my limits after Katrina. No flood or lightning damage, but all the rest.
Also, I live in a high area near the river in Uptown. When I bought in '83 Fidelity made me get flood, heard they still did when Katrina hit.

KPRC showing rescues in huge lifted trucks. Guy got out and got interviewed and asked what he thought...
"You see these trucks sometimes and you think, 'who needs that?' Well I guess we do."

Just drove around through there. Looks great.

A peroxide fire is fairly predictable and not hard to keep from being a catastrophe. For one, they should be stored separately so that the only building lost is the peroxide storage building - this may still look menacing from a distance but is still within the emergency plan.

Exactly.
Schools are out for stuff like "Teacher Education Days" and made up crap all the time. Plus, schools usually have a few days built into the calendar to absorb weather events and the like.
