The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 473 continues.
SUMMARY...A brief tornado or two cannot be ruled out today mainly
across southern Louisiana and extreme southeast Texas. A replacement
watch may be needed by 18Z.
DISCUSSION...Surface analysis shows a front about a county inland
from the upper TX coast into LA. South of this front, mid to upper
70s dewpoints remain. In addition, pockets of heating were noted
beneath the dry slot aloft over southeast TX and southwest LA with
gradually increasing instability.
Veering winds with height remain across the region, with the
greatest effective SRH over south central LA. An ongoing band of
storms also exists there, and given upper 70s dewpoints ahead of it,
some re-organization is possible.
Given the slow motion of TC Harvey, and stationary nature of the
boundary, little change is expected in the wind profiles overall,
which remain marginally favorable for tornadoes.

I could see a situation where too many people coming in with no centralized order could cause additional issues. Plus, with more weather seemingly on the way, do you really want more people coming in and potentially getting caught in it?

Watching the news, there are not enough boats. There are tons of people still trapped and more houses are getting flooded by the hour.

Harris County Sheriff just said on Fox 26 that if you have a watercraft and want to help go ahead. No need to coordinate with authorities.

Vermilion Parish called for closings Monday/Tuesday last Friday. I'll admit I thought it was premature but this am at drive time was not good here.

You realize it is not about wanting the help or not. At some point officials have to start considering not letting others put themselves in danger while a storm continues to come through an area that helpers are not at all familiar with.

I've seen at least 20 helicopters flying west along i20 this morning in Tallulah, la. Stopping to refuel in Monroe then heading to Houston.

It was the same shite during the floods here. Weren't some boats denied because those rescues could not be documented for reimbursement?
