What's the likelihood of this thing moving farther east?

Not sure but some models have it making landfall in TX, coming back out over the gulf and strengthening then making landfall in LA.

968 is a pretty healthy storm. Hopefully that isn't the case.

What happened in the Baton Rouge area was not the result of a tropical system. It was simply a stalled low. No one is worried about wind damage in Houston.

Kprc here in Houston just showed the euro having it coming in South of corpus, going north, then turning southeast back in the gulf.
They also showed their own future cast which is projecting the high the the west being stronger than the one to the east and taking it in around the border of Mexico and keeps it going west. Basically just be prepared for anything.

Current NHC advisory:

quote:

RAINFALL: Harvey is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 10 to 15 inches with isolated maximum amounts of 20 inches over the middle and upper Texas coast and southwest Louisiana through next Tuesday, with heavy rainfall beginning as early as Friday morning. Harvey is also expected to produce total rain accumulations of 3 to 9 inches in portions of south, central, and northeast Texas and the rest of the lower Mississippi Valley. Rainfall from Harvey could cause life-threatening flooding.

I guess I'm confused or not getting the same info as those in here, because every forecast and advisory I've read says what you just posted. And 15-20 inches of rain in a 4 day period really isn't a big deal at least for where I live. 35-50 inches obviously is

Me too. I'm on my phone and they all look like the same map to me. I do see a red spot in one of them though. Danger!

Just admit you were wrong like always. Stop trying to make yourself sound smarter than you actually are.

Yes. I got like 12 inches of rain in 10 hours during the Memorial Day flood and that was just street flooding

holy shite

I've never lived anywhere that had serious flooding concerns (Metro Atlanta) but that much rain in 10 hours would work it's way into my house one way or the other and generally cause havoc
