Sorry, man. It will be okay. Things and houses can be replaced. And there will be lots of help coming your way.

Best of luck to you. Keep us posted.

Oh TXFool I'm so sorry ... it is material possessions that can be replaced but that does not make it any easier. I live 10 miles or less from the coast of louisiana and leaving for Evacs is never easy.

Many prayers for you and your family and friends and the whole area.

The contracted companies will gouge the state and local governments and clear the streets

Katrina story. Local business man I know put together a debris clearing company and got the contract to clear hwy 98 of the tree debris. In this deal the government paid them for every load they brought to the landfill. One one of the guys who got a job driving dump truck for him told me they would haul as little as possible to make a load. They would load it so limbs and vines would stick over the edge to give the effect of having a full load. There was a guy from the government that was suppose to be checking the loads but he never left the AC of his pickup.

I remember when Hugo came thru here. I was pretty young, yet old enough to remember the carnage it caused. It was a cat 5 with 160 mph winds and it weakened to one mph beneath a cat 5 just before it hit. There was just a cement slab left where our beach house had been. SC was absolutely devastated. Ppl came in from all over the place to help our state. So I'd like to return the favor. And since I'm a trauma nurse I could help that way as well.

You're good people, Cocky girl.
