In other words, the numbers relate to how many feet of water would be necessary for that colored land to be inundated, or flooded. Therefore the lower numbers mean, it would only take 4 ft for this to be under water, and the higher ground would take 15 ft to be inundated or flooded.

So in short, yes, an elevation map, just worded as - this is the amount of surge water that it would take for this colored piece to be submerged in water.

Nothing wrong with the map or the key, just the map readers...

All the models had it as a category 1 hurricane until Tuesday. That could have changed, but nonetheless it's gonna be wreaking havoc in the same area for the next 4 days

Houston might be better than we thought but still lots of flooding

Yeah, on Tuesday! That's the NHC track as of now.

I dont know where the flooding is around here. Im originally from nw houston only down here 1.5 year.

Didn't North Louisiana get 30" of rain in a very short time period a couple years ago?

Eh, if it creates confusion, then it's not a good map. It could be clearer. It took me a quick second to get it, and I used to make maps in GIS for a living.
