They are still employed at Harvard, just removed as faculty dean of a undergrad house

....and he was removed as a faculty residential dean one day AFTER he resigned his role on the team representing Weinstein.

Can you tell me what him being black has to do with anything?

Nothing yet. But it'll be why he gets his job back.

The odd part is, however, is that I guarantee you that I guarantee you that Harvard would not fire somebody for representing Osama Bin Laden.

Can a person stutter type? I guess this answers this answers that.

How does the ABA not get into this fight?

[Looks like witch hunts are back in fashion in the Bay Colony]

That's actually a very misleading thread title.

He wasn't fired, and 'dean' in that context is just a Harvardism that means 'undergrad house master'.

ETA: For better or worse the students in his house didn't want him any more for their reasons. For better or worse, the administration went along with the students' wishes.

What is more interesting is the implication that he and his wife were removed as deans of a Harvard residential college bc the students could not handle the very basic legal and constitutional concept that everyone is entitled to a defense. I am less and less impressed with the students admitted to institutions like Harvard.

We see this very sentiment daily on tOT, however, it is even worse in that most of the time it is a call to justice without even a trial.

Having defended unpopular people on multiple occasions in the last 25 years this is nothing new at all.

One of the big issues in academia is the idea of academic freedom. It's usually related to research, and relates to faculty who may engage in unpopular research and have unpopular ideas. For a law professor, this seems like the equivalent. I realize it's a private institution, but it's concerning nonetheless.

Um, it's everyone who has a right to an attorney.

Should they have the right to? Yes your employer can generally fire you for anything that does not fit with their image, even social media posts.

Should they have fired him? Another question completely.
