“Ahh, I remember celebrating Kwanzaa decades ago with the old folks...”

Said no one ever.

Imagine how great their people would be if they followed the seven principles of Kwanzaa

Guys can we not make any subtle racist comments in here? This is meant to be a respectful thread on a holiday that means a lot to the millions who celebrate it every year.

I make a simple comment that people who celebrate Kwanzaa should try to live by its principles the whole year instead of a couple days a year, and I immediately get pegged as a racist

Karenga, the founder of Kwanzaa, was convicted and imprisoned for:

quote:

Deborah Jones, who once was given the Swahili title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Miss Davis' mouth and placed against Miss Davis' face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vise. Karenga, head of US, also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said. They also were hit on the heads with toasters.

Seriously, are white people allowed to participate in Kwanzaa?
Can whites put up the kinara candle thingy, similar to non Jews putting up a menorah?
