For about 4 years now I believe. Charcot Marie tooth disease. Eats away at your muscles. When he got lifetime achievement award at the cmas a couple years ago you could tell he was struggling.

I didn't know this. It runs in my family. It put my great uncle and his son in wheel chairs. Terrible disease.

Saw him a few years back sitting on the tailgate of my truck when he played in a peanut field in point clear alabama. Great show, cool way to see him etc
