Everything wasn’t a gimmick back then.

You had to earn the right to be in the ring with the big dogs.

While ButterBean was a tough SOB in other leagues he was hardly able to round to round with real boxers.

The top boxers had nothing to gain fighting Butterbean. If Tyson or Holyfield destroys Butterbean they were supposed to, but if Butterbean slipped one punch past the defenses he had the power to walk out of the ring with some belts.

Did anyone else watch those fights they used to do in people yards?

Yeah, Kimbo was a beast. I think Masvidal used to be involved in those, too.

That's how Kimbo Slice got noticed and found himself in MMA matches on TV a while back. He was f-ucking people up in back yards on a regular basis.
The 1st one I saw blew my mind. I remember a pickup pulling up and a fighter getting out with his manager Kimbo and his manger were with maybe 20 people there to watch the fight. Kimbo beat him up pretty badly. The the manager and the other fighter got in the truck and drove away. Seems like I remember them exchanging money before the manager and the fighter left. Kimbo was a bad man.

The neighborhood where they fought looked like the little houses you see in older parts of LA. The house they met at to fight. looked like the house Danny Devito lived in in the movie Schwarzenegger 'Twins' movie.

I’ve been to Madison Square Garden one time to see the Knicks play. We sat on the second row behind the goal, mid 90’s
Butter bean sat beside us and was a nice guy, bought me a beer.
