Why the frick would this take 30+ years to figure out. I'm quite sure there are thousands of bums that would be willing to be guinea pigs for this substance and we could know within 2 weeks.

It doesn't say this won't be ready until 2050. It said it would completely replace ALL regular alcohol by then.

That's not any fun, I don't get hungover unless I am drinking something like too many old fashioned's and I am on your side of 30 too.

It's a derivative of benzodiazepine (so is Valium). Hmmm. I'm sure they wouldn't be developing something that is addictive to sell to the public.

It won't be a full-blown hangover, but if I have more than a couple of drinks, I feel it the next day. Mostly a slight headache.

Compare that to my undergrad days when I could go through a fifth on a Friday night, and wake up the next day ready for round 2.

I ain't what I used to be

You must be young.

In my teens and early 20s, I could drink as much as I wanted to, and wake up the next morning feeling like a million bucks.

Now in my late 20s, a few beers make me feel awful in the morning.

That's a good point. The alcohol lobby would bury this with legislation, then the formula will be basterdized repeatedly to skirt legislation and be labelled as a skin ointment.

There is already a cure for hangovers. It's called alchoholism. If you drink a shite ton everyday you quit getting hangovers.
